AR15 and Jewell 2-stage, full auto?

Put a jewell 2 stage on my bushy a month ago. Fired it several times and loved it. Last time out, no critters came in so decided to squeeze off a few rounds anyway. What a shock, slowly squeezed the trigger, and 5 rounds dumped in a split second. Scared the mess outta me. Twice since then my gun fired 2 rds in full auto. It seems to only happen when squeezing real slow.
HELP...Would like to get this matter fixed prior to the upcoming PM hunt in Globe...Any help will be greatly appreciated......

Call Jewell. Get on this quick, the ATF has been known in the past to successfully prosecute people for illegal posession of full-auto weapons even when the agents knew that the full auto fire was due to a mechanical malfunction, not by anything the owner did.

Stu is right about the ATF. If you want me to, I will delete this entire thread.

Just say the word.

You probably do not have quite enough engagement on the sear.

I sure would not wait until tommorrow. Rather I would yank whatever fire-control components Jewell sent you OUT and send them directly back. Or destroy them. Then make your phone call.

I was on another site the other day. Software a little different. It showed "times viewed" per thread. My thread had two posts.. It was seen 44 times. There are really a lot of folks who watch the boards, and not all of them nice.

MikeinAZ - Check out this link. I think it will solve your problem. I installed a Jewell not long ago, adjusted per instructions, and have not had a problem. Good Luck.

Jewell Trigger Instructions

This is a true two-stage design in that full trigger sear engagement is present until final release. Pull trigger until resistance is felt then continue pull until hammer release. The difference in trigger travel felt is second stage sear engagement. That travel (engagement) may be increased or decreased by turning adjustment screw 12. Turning the screw in (clockwise) will reduce sear engagement, out (counter-clockwise) will increase sear engagement. Set to preference
BTW, whatever became of your e-caller project? Did you get it working to your satisfaction?

Hey Mike, How ya doing? 1st of all, I talked to the Jewell company and they told me my 2nd stage was to light, and I had to turn my sear engagement screw 1/4 turn clockwise. I did that
and went to the range and no full auto in 100 rounds. 2nd, I built my azden and love it. It's got its share of "fur". I knew I had to make one when I saw you work that thing at the Tom Mix hunt. I have 2 speakers, the same one as yours, and a smaller one I got for $4.00, the smaller one fits into my fanny pack, the larger speaker sounds better "to me", but the smaller one has called in more critters. U gonna be at the PM hunt in Globe?

Glad the fix on the trigger was an easy one. Figured it would be. Those jewell's are sweeet, aren't they?

What did you find to be the problem on the e-caller? Cables are my guess.

I changed the speaker on my caller. Went to a Johnny Stewart mid range speaker. It's smaller, lighter and sounds good too.

Yep, coming to the hunt. My son's not going to make it due to training for his upcoming MEU. Looking forward to seeing you there.
