Ive tried coyote hunting a few times, seen 1 or 2 but never got a shot:/ Picking up a new .223 and looking to try my hand at it again(last times was with a HEAVY .308 varmint rifle, that got tiring to lug around). Nice to find a place like this on the net, look forward to reading and sharing experiences with you all!

It`s not the size of the weapon, It`s the force of attack.

JD - Good to have another Tucson hunter here. I've been kinda shy about offering to hunt with the local Tucson hunters because my hunting time has been sorta used up for most of the last month. Maybe things will loosen up soon.

Hey guys......
I'm from Michigan, but dad lives in Camp Verde(near Sedona). Visit there every year, but this year I want to hunt. Dad used to be a hardcore hunter, but hasnt done squat since he's been there almost 10 yrs. Is there any good yote hunting around there? Ive seen javelina around his house, but I know you need tags for those. Besides, I'd rather hunt dogs. If anyone can give me some ideas on where to hunt and how it would be greatly appreciated. Up here the dogs are very call-shy due to the amount of human activity(hikers, hunters, 4wheelers) so I have yet to call one in. Heard its all together different in the west. Thanks in advance.....Mark

MARK:Your Dad definitely lives near some Great Hunting areas. As for Yote hunting you'll want to try East of Camp Verde, take Rd.260 towards Strawberry.Hunt both North and South of this road, elevations will very along with types of habitat, but plenty of Predators/all kinds.Pick up a Coconino National Forest map to help you get around and "BACK".Don't forget you'll need a Hunt license for coyotes,a class H (3 day)is $51.50 or by the Full year class G for $113.50,and then in June apply for some "GREAT" elk hunting near your Dads home.Good Luck and "WELCOME"---

Thanks biggame..
Dad has taken me on some "tours" out there, so I am familiar with 260 and Strawberry. He has seen elk, but the chance of me drawing that tag is slim. Are you familiar with Jerome at all? Saw a ton of antelope last year between there and Prescott. Was wondering if applying for that tag would be worth a shot. Thanks again, Mark

MARK:Been to Jerome only one time, took wife there, while SCOUTING for some up-coming HUNTS.Yea, lots of Lopes in and around Prescott.Problem lots of Private Property where most Lopes are at.Don't let those SLIM odds scare you from applying for Elk or Lopes, lots of Non-res. draw their first try.Good callen to you---
