Hey y'all' I'm new to the forum and also new to coyote hunting, I've only been once or twice when i was younger, but not new to hunting. i live in the northern phoenix area around the i17 and carefree highway and I'm looking for any tips on where to get started, i grew up hunting the 7 springs area so i thought i could give that a shot. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. also im not expecting anyone to give away their honey holes just a rough idea where i could possibly get some luck. Thanks!!

Buddy, they are EVERYWHERE here in Az. It would be harder to find where they are NOT.

Find cows, find water, find brush, find coyotes.

You are looking in the right direction.

Thanks! as far as rifles go im looking into getting a 22-250 either a rem700 or the savage axis not to sure yet. as far as this week goes i was thinking of using my Weatherby .257 mag. would that be fine for now or to much rifle??

There it is. Dead is dead unless you want the fur. If you want fur that is too much rifle. .223 Rem AR-15 is great, or even a shotgun with #4 buckshot is better for the fur. You also have to be ready in case you get a bobcat or fox coming in. You hit them with those howitzers you are talking about and your gettin nuttin but red mist.

Thanks for all the help! Ended up getting a savage 22-250 and a leupold vx-2 yesterday along with a call, sighted it in and went out earlier today and got myself a coyote and fox!

Congratulations!! WOW, you are a quick learner! Welcome to Predator Masters. Any pictures?

Yeah i have a couple, still trying to figure out how to post them on a reply... but i have been hunting since i was 5 so the concept wasn't to off for me just a little different style (and maybe a bit of luck) the fox came right up after about 2 minutes of calling!

I've always thought the main street of Cave Creek to be pretty populated with 'yotes. There is a place up 17 for a ways(30 miles I think) that HAD a lot of yotes east of the highway. I say HAD because two years ago there was signage indicating a major rabies out break in that area.

We hunt south to T. Rooseveldt Res. these days. Plenty of hair balls down that way.

This is the first one i called in, im pretty much hooked it was a rush!! also the call i got was the foxpro wildfire 2, anyone had any good luck with these in the past and could give me some tips on using it??

And yeah i grew up in cave creek/carefree and that place is loaded with yotes, every night i would get woken up! but the flats out past 7 springs seemed pretty good and also around bronco tank
