Arkansas wildlife question.

Next Friday we are going to take our RV and do a road trip through Missouri into Arkansas. We will take in the Hot Springs area but will eventually head to Ponca to look at some elk.

I was just wondering if anyone from Arkansas could point us to any other areas for good wild life viewing. We are not into game farms but National parks are always of interest. Wildlife can be anything from coyotes and varmints to deer and elk.

Anyway just thought I would see if there were any recommendations. Thanks for your time!

I live in Arkansas and seeing wildlife on a driving tour would be hit or miss, mostly miss. Unless you hit the southeast quadrant of the state (the delta) looking for snow geese. Wish I could be more help.

Since you are going to be in the Hot Springs area head over to Lake Degray and you might catch sight of a few bald eagles this time of year.

Also, if the weather permits you can hike some of the trails in the Ponca area. No telling what wildlife you might see this time of year. The whole Buffalo River valley is hit and miss but you might see turkey, bear, deer, raccoons, etc.

Thank You! I just wanted to make sure I didn't have to hear a week after getting home that we missed some spectacular refuge or something.

Thanks again!

You could go through Pea Ridge Battleground Park (largest Cival War battle in AR, where Confederates with many Cherokee
soldiers fought Bluecoats), you could see 2-300 Deer in an afternoon.

This would be about 50 miles NW of Ponca, great scenery along the way.
