Armalite AR-15

Have been playing with getting an AR and learning the terminology like furniture /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif Anyway have narrowed to Bushmaster & Armalite and maybe even swapping a few parts to get what I want. Rock River sounds good but there aren't any around here. So are there any worthy opinions on the Armalite M15A4 SPR II National Match Rifle.

I have both a Bushy Varminter and an Armalite M15A2 National Match. The Varminter has a tighter upper to lower fit but the Armalite has the better two-stage trigger (both have two-stage triggers). The Varminter is very accurate...Some have advertised 1/4" groupings with them but I'm not a great shot. I have gotten 1/2" @ 100 yds with mine. The Armalite is also accurate but since it is an A2, I only shoot it with sights. As for what you want, I would say it would make for an excellent rifle. I wished I had gone the A4 over the A2. Now I have an A2 that collects dust...Been thinking of selling it.

Unless you plan on shooting DCM get a flat top in the barrel length you want to carry. With the wide range of optics out there, and the great BUIS systems to pick from the carry handle just gets in the way.

Armalite would not be in the running for my choices. I would look to DPMS, Rock River, Olympic, or Bushmaster. Also, I would not spend the extra money for a factory two-stage match trigger. These are not worth wasting money on. Get a single stage JP trigger. The little extra money is well worth it.

A gentleman at my range the other day was shooting a and I could be wrong with the name, Les Baer AR with a flat top and a tactical scope. That rifle was sweet and accurate. I liked it much better than my Colt and my father's Armalite.

I know the prices have come down with the Colts. I paid $1,200 for my post ban and now I see them at gun shows for $850 with the flash hider.

AR's are fun.

Just a comment, I looked at Les Baer, they are not cheap about $2,000. If that is in your price range and you want a custom AR, look at Accurary Systems Inc. ARs, I have not shot one, but they look great, guarantee accuracy.

The Bushmaster Varminter is one of the best calling rifles i have used. Dealer cost is 899.95 so you should be able to get one ordered for around 1000,00. If you purchase one you will be happy with it, if not i would be surprised. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

By all means, don't forget Dtech. He makes a great rifle and I have heard no one complain. The accuracy is really good and he's also a supporter of PM. The best in my book! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I love my Armalite m15 a4 tacticle w/ match barrel, this is my first semi auto riffle I have owned. I've always been a bolt action guy because of their accuracy, but this riffle changed my mind about semi auto's accuracy. I am already saving my money up for the next one, seriously considering Dtech with my next one. It sucks to be a rich teacher /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif and having to waite to buy/build my next one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Well I'm glad to hear good things about Armalite. A couple guys were there that have several different AR's and they said this two stage trigger was the best they had tried. This model is a flat top/with gas block mount but no sight. From what I can tell the Rock River is measureably heavier for the same barrel. I liked the bushmaster but the trigger go from worst to best Colt(horrible), Bushmaster, Rock River, Armalite. I'm headed back to drool a little more.
