I was strolling past the sporting goods counter at our local Wal-Mart over the weekend, as I was heading towards another dept.....and couldn't believe my eyes!!
So...I went over to check things out a little closer.
Upon closer inspection, I was seeing correctly.
Wal-Mart (at least ours) is selling ARs now!!

They had 6-8 different brands, from obvious el-cheapos that I'd never heard of, to Bushmasters, DPMS, Colts & Smith & Wessons.

The cheapies were obvious, not only because of no brand reconition, but also because they started at about $400.
But, even the brands I listed above, were only priced between $800-$1000...except for the Colt. It was like around $2700.

The cheaper ones you saw were probably 22lr. The Wally here has had AR's for quite some tome now. Like you, I couldn't believe my eyes. Never thought I'd see the day.

Yes, a couple of them were .22LR.
But they had a couple cheapies that were .223. (I looked them over REAL close. LOL

And actually I do remember seeing a .223 Oly for about $550.

Ours in Mcpherson is not yet, but a year ago they had no guns at all! So some is better then none, I guess...

What else is new? LOL

Mine too....Like for the past 3 yrs. And reloading equipment for the past a lotta yrs..

I know the bigger stores around here will price match the local walmart as long as they have it in stock. Dicks here has a bunch of ar's. They used to just sell the camo remington's but now they have stepped into the black rifle market.

Yep, ours here has carried AR's for a couple years now. Mostly DPMS and R15s. The new store down in Ft.Collins won't sell guns, yet has the biggest reloading and ammo section I have ever seen in a Walmart. Go figure. Ours barely carries any reloading stuff, just the basics.

We've just got the Sig and it's little brother Sig .22 but I guess it's better than nothing. Most of the WallyWorlds around us have stopped carrying firearms.

What else is new? We got some really nice model 700's in as well and some Savage's. Axis and Model 10 in 308. We can't get them all on the shelf and have to keep them in the back gun room. kwg

I'm just thinking that I remember that price.
I have been known to be wrong.

I bought a new Bushmaster Patrolman from Wally World over the 4th of July. I was going to buy parts and build one myself, but with parts being at a premium right now and long backorder times I decided to just get a complete rifle and the price wasn't bad.

The Wal-Mart north of us about 17 miles has had one or two on the rack for a year or two now but never payd much attention to what they were. The Wal-Mart down south just recently started selling guns again once they converted to a super center but they went almost 4 years with no guns. They said they weren't generating enough money at the time to justify keeping them. Dont know whats different now but im not gonna complain as they are closer to home.
