ATF Announces Major Cybersecurity Incident

Senior ATF officials have deemed the event a “major incident” under federal guidelines, although it stressed that the hack did not affect the bureau’s ability to perform its operations, according to a statement published on Aug. 26.

I'm so glad ATFs "ability to perform its operations" is not affected. My only question is, just who else has that ability now?

this country isnt prepared for cyber attacks. if some nation really wanted to they could shut us down in a few heart beats.

I don't know if I really trust the ATF about this considering that there are a bunch of angry deep staters there who are pissed about the recent rulings over the NFA.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is just bologna conjured up by the ATF as a way to say they need more power and control over their rogue database of gun owners through the lie and guise of safety and security in my opinion.
 
more control ?

they cant safe guard what they have now. if anything, this illustrates why they should not have a data base. the government should be held 100% financially libel for everything that gets out.

every business that has a data breach should be held financially libel 100% of the time for everything. if they go bankrupt...so what.
