I have the opportunity to get a used ATN ThorHD 2.5-25 and I really know nothing about them. I’ve never done any night hunting and have no reference point to even start with. I have a custom rifle for sale and a guy offered to trade me this scope for it and I almost said no, but then I thought it might be something worth having. I’d value anyone’s experience and help.

Tg, unfortunately for your question I don't see many people writing about having or using an ATN Thor HD on this website. I know Skinney did a nice thermal video using ATN stuff, but I don't think it was with the HD series. He has moved on to IRD-Trij. now. You could probably find it under Oneillops.com. Sorry I can't be of more help to your specific question.
Thanks for the reply, like I said I just don’t know anything about this stuff. I did some research and turned up that only land owners in SD are allowed to use night vision to hunt Coyotes. I think that in itself is enough for me to pass on the unit. Thanks again for the reply

I have owned the THor HD you are speaking of. Mine was the 640 model, is this one you are being offered?
Here's what I can say about mine. It was a good thermal that worked just as advertised. There are a lot of ATN haters out there, I'm not one of them, even though I don't own one anymore. Not saying people don't have good reason's to have those feelings due to their experiences, but my experience with their product was just fine. I will do my best to list the pro's and con's that I experienced:
Pro's:
-Great Clarity
-Lots of Options, gadgets, widgets, etc......
-On-board recording
Con's:
-I absolutely hated the LCD viewing screen. This is the reason I sold the scope. It was like a narrow wide screen, versus a nice square like all other thermals.
-Complicated menu. Yes, you do get used to it, but I thought it was idiotic that I have to click 49 times to change the scope from white hot to black hot
I'm sure there's more I'm missing from writing this, but overall the scope did me just fine. It killed coyotes and quite a few hogs.
