looking in to buying one. has anyone used one yet? hows the IR illuminator? heard on the x sight 2 most people got a better IR

The following is a video of the Pro model posted by a guy in Australia (Peter Nobes) who has some very good videos fox hunting with the X-Sight II. Honestly I couldn't see where this video of the Pro model is better. Maybe it is just because the scope is new to him, but it seems like at least in this video when he gets out to 200 yds. that mostly he is shooting at eyes.

I have the X-Sight II and bought what I thought would be a better IR, actually went back to the factory IR which is not too bad at all. I guess if I had big fields and could see 300 yds or more maybe I would want more IR. For me I can shoot to 250 easy with the IR that came with the scope and that is far enough for me. If you are hunting with any high weeds or bush involved, you will need a variable switch to "tone down" the IR to keep from a lot of back wash "white out". If you get the 4K, please do a review on here and share some video. There are many interested folks that would like to see some unbiased real world footage.

doubleup - thanks for posting that link, ill be sure to check it out when i get home from work

weekender - how do you like your x sight II? what drew me to the 4k was on optics planet it states 20hr battery life. ive heard the II eats batters like crazy.

Bud I came up with the same conclusion. At 200 yards in the video you could barely make out what he was shooting at. I asked him if the view through the scope was any better and here is he response. He never really said if it was better.

Dog Tired TV
The smear is me not focusing
But the Xsight iam using is a pre production model not the production model that is being released

Bob, I saw that it was a pre-production model as well. I suppose it could be that he just isn't using much IR power because he has a pretty large IR light sitting on top of that scope. Time will tell I guess if this is a good scope or a hyped-up paper weight.

Are you using a Pulsar N355? If so, does it have sound yet?

I like mine just fine. It's not perfect but for the price point and what it offers it works for me. As far as batteries, I use Kentli rechargeables for internals which will last me more than 4 hours and also have a 16000 mAh external that I have yet to deplete even half the charge on any hunt.
