attn dusk and dawn hunters...do you care more about obj size or lighted ret

im gonna go with a 40mm scope. thats my final answer regis. thanks for your help guys and i know its annoying to answer the same questions but thats what keeps a forum going. ive never had anything bigger than 40mm and never more than 9x (i live in ny, dont really need more than 6x and thats stretching it, 4x is where everything stays) but because i never had a scope with more mag and bigger glass it makes me want one.

i cant afford what i truly want a vx3. so im gonna get a redfield

im very happy with the quality of the optics and im confident enough in my skill to know that a leupold vx3 isnt gonna make me hit my target anymore or less than a redfield.

I do not look at either of your parameters. I look at the quality of the glass first.A 1" 40 mm Swaro. with no red dot will be far better than a 30mm tube 56mm OL in a Bushnell.

Personally I never saw a single bit of help with a lit reticle for deer hunting in the waning light. They actually seemed counter productive to me.

Think QUALITY, not SIZE, or GIMMICKS. Tom.

yeah i would think quality but swaro and most zeiss (aside from the one that $400) is out of my price range. between rent, car insurance, truck payments etc i gotta be good

i read that though. i read that single coated glass from a top notch manufacturer is better than fully multi coated lens from a decent maker. im happy with the quality of redfield. i just cant justify buying a vx3 right now. if i find i need something more than the redfield ill switch to my vx2 thats on my lever action and if i need something more than that quality of the vx2 i better re-examine what im doing bc its not the equipment.

the only reason i dont put my vx2 on my ar is because its already zeroed for my lever action and it fits it beautifully.

If the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 is in your price range, there is no question in my opinion.

Get the Conquest with the duplex reticle.

You already said a 4X would fit the bill perfectly?? I would definitely shop for a higher end 4X or a higher end used 4X before I bought a lesser grade 3X9. Buy quality, even if it is just a 4X. It will be far better in the end run. Tom.

i think for now im gonna run my vx2 on it. i was thinking before im stupid for buying a lesser quality scope when my vx2 sits on a deer rifle i have for "just incase a buddy at work wants to go deer hunting" (im not a deer hunter).

i thought about that, getting a good quality 4x. all i could find were leupold fx 6x, sightron siii and weaver. for a little more than what the price they were asking for them i could get the same optic only in a vari model
