Axis or 110 Savage!

The 110 is a long action and weighs more than the Axis.
A bigger dia extractor detent ball ends the savage extraction issues.
I've had an Axis right hand .223 loaner rifle since they came out and it's been reliable and given me no issues.

Its not a long action. Savage went back to calling them all 110's instead of 10, 110.
That being said, dont get an Axis. The 110 is made a lot better. If you must get an Axis, get the Axis 2 for the accu-trigger. I still recommend the 110. I habe an older Predator in 22-250 that's a laser.

Savage went goofy with what we all know to be the 110, the 10 was a short action and the 110 was a long action. Now they got all kinds of different models in model numbers so its hard to keep straight. I've owned an Axis and a Stevens (when they resurrected that in the mid 2000's). I was never happy with either one and sold them to go buy a 110 or in my case a 10. I just found the 110 was made better and I could get it sighted in 10x faster. YMMV

I have an Axis in 6.5CM Gen 1 that is my primary deer rifle. It shoots lights out. And has a pile of rounds down the tube with load development.
My wife has a Axis 2 in 7mm-08 and its a tac driver also.
I have done a few things to them, Bolt lift kits, Trigger spring kits in both.
My 6.5 has a different bolt also.
Next step is to get rid of the stock and put it in a MDT stock.

I have zero complaints.
I have been looking for a good buy on one to build a 6mm CM on.
