We drew general permits for 37b Javelina.
We hunted some of this area with Will last season and are somewhat familiar with it.

Since we have no experience with Javelina any very little with 37b, I would gladly listen to any advice you could offer.

Thanks,

Vinny

VCinRI,

I don't know the unit you are planning to hunt at all, but I know javalina's really well. The area's where you found them last year will likely hold them this year too. Where you find water is also a good place to look. Find a high vantage point and glass. If it's really cold at night look for the javalinas on sunny slopes and mesa's at mid day. If it's not too cold at night look early in the morning and late in the day for best results. Don't overlook wide open grasslands. I've found javalinas where there wasn't a bush for several miles at times. The key is water. If it snows, look on the south facing slopes where the sun has melted the snow off. Good luck! Daryl

There has always been alot of pigs off the Willow Springs road and in the Black Mountains in the Southern part of the unit. Unfortunately there has always been alot of hunters too. If the Archery guys dont hit them too hard and the HAM guys take it easy in there you might be able to find them close to the road, otherwise I suggest hiking at least 1 or 2 canyons or ridges away from the road and glassing.
Another really good spot is anywhere in the little range of hills above the San Pedro River between Mammoth and San Manuel. Always alot of hogs in there too. Good luck
Bret
