Boy am I gonna become unpopular for this, but I'm going to take a different stance on this issue.
Andy handled this the right way. What else could he have done after pasting it all over the internet? It was a mistake no doubt, but what makes it innocent? Uninformed or uneducated would better describe what happened. If Joe Blow draws a mule deer tag and goes out and drops a doe or an elk, is that an innocent mistake because he couldn't tell the difference. What about the guy who shoots the wrong species of deer? Innocent mistake? Should either of those guys get to keep what they harvested or get off without writing a check?
As sportsmen, it's our resposibility, our obligation, to know what we are doing when we take to the field. He should have known better and that's the bottom line. There's really no excuse, zero, for not knowing and fully understanding the regulations regarding whatever type of hunting you participate in.
If Andy was new to AZ predator calling or even a casual type caller, it would be a little more understandable, but not forgivable. I'm not getting on Andy's case (it wouldn't make any difference to me who it was), we all make mistakes, but all these atta boy replies are getting under my skin just a little. It was a violation and a stupid violation at that. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
OK, I'm tied to the stake. Let the flames begin.
