Bad press for hunters (Ted Nugent)

The first thing he should do is make a show about the mistake he made and press the issue of insuring you know the laws before you hunt and admit his failure to do so, that way PETA can't say look even Ted kills animals illegally. On a side note, This don't change my opinion of Uncle Ted in the least.

There are way too many laws now, so he messed up and didn't know all the laws, he has apologized on his website. Don't degrade the man for it, everyone makes mistakes.Just because he's a celebrity people will make it into a huge deal.Just pretend like he's a democratic congressman, they can do whatever and nobody will say a word.
 
Ted is a great advocate for the sport of hunting. I agree that he should do a show on what he did wrong and how we as sportsman (hunters) need to do our home work and know the laws of the state and area we are hunting better then the DOW. We should continue to stand behind Ted and support him but by no means should we let him off the hook. Ted is a good man but he needs to use this as a teachable moment and expend a great deal of time and effort to correct this mistake.

A bad deal for Ted and for hunters. He screwed up and he knows it but the crazy [beeep] lefties (like the ones posting comments on the link) and the lefty media probably won't let it rest!

There ARE too many laws.

BUT, baiting deer and shooting a spike buck are pretty important (and basic) laws to know about. I mean, come on!
 
Hunters will find it pretty hard to be 100% correct as far as PETA is concerned.Ted should apologize, but then let this mistake go away. Someone else will do something that PETA doesn't like and that thing will be the next anti-hunter news.
 
Ted has stood up for hunters and for our 2nd amendment rights more in one day than most will in a lifetime. I hope he dosen't apoligize, do a show on what he did wrong, or anything else. If you're gonna sit here and say that you have never scewed up before, then you are either full of crap or haven't been the woods enough. I can't imagine him doing this on video if he knew he was breaking any screwed up laws. PETA can cram it up their A$$ for all I care. Nobody owes them a dang thing! They are terrorist, plain and simple. I'm behind Ted's crazy self.

Yup! He surely wouldn't have put it on his show if he had knowingly done it. Purely a mistake that should just fade away.

Those dip $%^&$ that posted they were NRA members and thought he should have been handed a tougher penalty only hurt us all.

Ted's Camp for Kids and his other work for the NRA, hunters and our 2A rights are going above and beyond.
 
Why would an experienced hunter like him come all the way out to CA to bait and shoot a spike buck? And he paid outfitters to do it?
 
Why would anyone want to go to Cali anyhow? The state laws there disgust me. A spike buck is not always a baby. In fact, my dad killed a 200 pound spike in east, Texas. It was the biggest whitetail with the smallest rack he ever shot in Texas. Im sure it was a baby though and still sucking the teat...It probably still had it's spots too right? What's wrong with baiting a deer? Next, you are gonna tell me it's wrong to bait coyotes...LOL

I would agree that Ted should have at least brushed up on the local hunting regulations before taking a shot, but in my opinion, the outfitter should definitely catch the majority of the blame. Ted could go out and shoot as big a deer as he ever dreamed about in another state without penalty. I seriously doubt he would do this knowingly.
 
I am not so sure he is good for hunting ?? Sure many hunters like him . BUT (IMO) He comes across as a in your face kinda guy to the none hunting and anti hunting public. I bought and watched one of his hunting video many many years ago and was not impressed . never watched anything he has been on since .

Get off ted's Arse ??, come on i just said i am just not one of his fans . Don't hate the guy . And yes i am just as pissed as you are that Obama got elected . IMO WE are out numbered as hunters in a lot of states and should watch how we come across . I know with the peta folks it will never matter how we act good or bad . Why do you think i moved to Utah to get away from the anti hunting nut balls .A large number of people hunt here . BUT California is a very big LIBERAL state and sadly , has a lot of clout . Ultimately, PUBLIC OPINION opinion will decide whether hunting as we know it will continue. It is our duty to do everything possible to win this war. If you feel the screw you in you face attitude will work , then go for it . But i am afraid you will be wrong and we will loose . IMO !!!!!!!!!!!
