Baikal, any thoughts?

With #4 buck I took the bottle off the crate and didn't even touch the crate or the can.

That is one of two things... either a really tight pattern, or, a really loose pattern. How many No. Four Buck pellets hitting the target will tell the tale. If that was a glass bottle, there is no way of telling. It only takes one pellet to bust a glass bottle. If the bottle was plastic, how many pellet holes did it have in it?

It was a plastic bottle, I don't shoot glass. It was shredded pretty good. I plan on paper testing both barrels this week. Hopefully I can post gun and target pictures this week with a full description of my findings. I've let several people shoulder it with the Tasco in place, all seem to approve of it. The paper will tell all.

Just FYI I have a Biakal IZH 27 O/U Shotgun and it is excellent , well built , and tough . I think if a combo is what you want this is the best option out there .

ARCOREY,
BTW, just as an FYI there are some aftermarket chokes offered for the Baikal shotguns. Not every maker has one on the market, but in case it doesn't shoot exactly as you want it to, if you look around a little you can get some non-factory tubes for your new critter gitter. Probably won't need one, just FYI... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I have a Baikal 12/30-06 which is a great gun. I had a Spartan which had problems with the shotgun barrel have a windage difference of 3.5 inches at 25 yards which was unacceptable, Remington resolved the issue....

I would check the barrel windage before buying as there is no windage adjustment.

Also, i have a Colonial rifled and turkey choke. The rifled choke shoots close to 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards and the turkey choke was used to take and drop a large Tom at 55 yards.

From what i can tell you either get a great one or you dont.....

The recommend scope mounts are B-Square 11mm Dovetail, which are classified as airgun. My B-Square mounts have been rock solid.

Well, I shot some sight in shots with the Tasco and got it roughed in at 50yds. I put the target out at 100 yds and nearly covered it with the smallest dot ( now I remember why it didn't stay on my 10/22 either). I shot a 3 shot group anyway and it looked to be about 1 3/4". Not bad considering the scope. Now I have to punish the T/C thumbhole Contender 223 and take away the Nikon. It looks like it may have about 3"-3.25" eye relief. No need to keep the T/C scoped if this is going to replace it as a predator combo. The Buckmasters 4x-12x-50mm will make it a good lowlight and night gun like it did my T/C. I'll post some target pics and gun pics once I get it together. Glad I took advice about buying it. So far I like it.
