Baiting

I DIY a tripod for my game cam out of 1/2x10' emt(40" legs) A 2" 1\4-20 bolt/nut and wing nut. Flatten 3" on one end of emt legs, drill hole and bend in vise to match angle of my deathgrip. Placed it out at my first bait site. At 8:31pm Monday night a pic of coyote near the bait. No wind(less than 3mph) I decided to try and sneak into the blind(downwind) of bait 130 yards.
Parked a half mile away and hiked in, wind from my 3 o'clock. On the way I saw one sitting watching me from a pine tree belt 275 yards upwind of the blind. It watched me until I got in the blind. It moved off further away(100 yards ish) and than disappeared in the pines. After sitting about an hour I decided to use the ecaller in my pack, let 3 challenge howls go at half max volume. Sat with blind window open for 20 minutes, no response. Closed up cranked up the heat(added a wood stove fan to the buddy heater, really like it). About an hour I open up bait side window and scanned, coyote sitting back on the edge of pines. It seemed to be watching something (I thought another coyote). Opened a window on my left and saw a coyote about 100 yards away thru the scanner. Slowly moved the rifle on the death grip to that window. Just in time to see it cross the drainage ditch and enter the woods next to me. As I watched thru the thermal sight it came back out and crossed the ditch and turned moving straight away. It stopped near where I first saw it, turning broadside. I shot it behind the shoulder with the 223 loaded with 50 gr SX. Dropped immediately, legs up and flopped sliding down the snow covered ditch bank. As I watch for movement a second appears in the bottom of the display, running away. I try to get on it but didn't want to take a butt shot. It disappeared around the edge of the trees. The one from the pines had moved further away, out to about 600 yards across the hayfield and than disappeared. I stayed 2 more hours, hoping for a return from either of the 2. But no more action. Pics in the morning, going to try to 4 wheel in and turn the hay rack the blind is sitting on 90° so I have a wide window facing the bait.
So first bait, first sit, first coyote off a bait this year.
