Bald Eagle!

Only had about an hour to make a stand. I hit some public land here in NW Iowa...On my way in stumbled across a deer carcass...figured this was as good as spot as any to set up. I hit the hillside overlooking it all and started wailing on the distress mouth calls. Never called in a yote but did get a bald eagle to circle literally FEET above me...It was AWESOME!!! I could hear his wings wooosh and see the color of his eyes. Not too many eagles around here...so this was a pretty big deal...what an experience!

Cool! What Public area in NW Iowa did you call?

Waterman's public access...you familiar? Always looking for partners!

rack,
I had the same experience about two months ago on my father in laws farm. I was walking through the wooded area toward the northern property line to make a stand when I looked up and there was a bald eagle flying south along the same trail. It probably passed about fifteen feet over me head and we were looking at each other in the eyes.

Too cool. I see quite a few here in Arkansas, but that is the first time I've ever been that close.

One thing I love about fishing out on the lake is seeing all the larger birds, like ducks, geese, Osprey and Golden and Bald Eagles.

There are no shortages here in Colorado...particularly at Lake Pueblo...but it has be the right time of year for Osprey and Geese.

The Golden and Bald Eagles are year round residents and are easily found once you know where to look.

Locally we seem to overlook the thousands of hawks and falcons as they are just background scenery.

I work in West Des Moines and happened to look out the window one day last week and saw a bald eagle flying west right at eye level about 30 yrds from the building ! Pretty neat.

we have 6 of them hanging out on lake macatawa here in holland right now. I hope that they are here for the whole year. there is a young one with them that is all black.
that is really neat to see.The coolest experience i have ever had with an eagle is last year 4th of july we were riding in the boat up the grand river and we had 3 of them flying above us for about 10 minutes. watched one fly down and scoop up a big fish about 15 yards from us. It was amazing. And on top of it all it was the 4th of july.

same thing happend to me about a week ago it was awesome. i was sittin up in the rocks and started with the cottaintail in distress and about 5 minutes later there was a big whoosh! come from behind me it was a golden eagle. then he just kept circling me for a minute. it was kinda scary lol. i thought i was gonna become bird food

we have about well i dont know how many but its in the thousands here in arkansas ..i see them everyday when i go hunting .. kinda scary when the swoop 20ft over your head with the decoy out though.... they are huge birds.. awesome to look at

Sorry Bofire but I have to dissagree with you and TR. I went out calling yesterday and called in two bald eagles the first stand. I saw 11 bald eagles total yesterday and each time I saw one I took a minute to enjoy it.

I was out hunting and at the end of the stand I got up and I heard a big WHOOSH! Evidently a golen eagle came to my calling or something and landed on the rock above me,and flew off about 8-10 feet above me. It's awesome.
