Ballistics and all that cr@p aside, what guns do you just..........LIKE :)

Remington 512 Targetmaster .22 Lr,L,S. My first
Marlin 336 .35Rem, It was my moms she killed her first deer with it and so did I. Its the 100th anniversary model.
I dont carry these two much anymore. I carry a Savage Model 10 predator brush 22-250 most of the time now.

I have a really nice Remington 760 in 35 Rem. I have no need for it really. I live in an area where extended distance shots are always a possibility and the 35 Rem isn't a long range caliber. But man, I like that rifle. It's quick handling, throws a 200gr spire with very good precision for peep sights, has very little recoil and ALWAYS puts a smile on my face. Someday, I will eventually pull a doe tag and that is what I plan on using. Just love that rifle with that cartridge.

I use to try and have one favorite. My collection has grown enough that I have favorites for each purpose. Although it is my newest, my Remington model 7 in 17rem is my favorite predator rifle. My model 7 in 7mm08 is my favorite center fire deer rifle. My T/C Omega muzzleloader is my best venison getter. My RRA A4 varmint is my favorite paper punching rifle and my T/C 22lr pistol is my favorite range pistol. My rebuilt Remington 700SPS is my favorite varmint rifle and long range rig. My 870 is my favorite shotgun and killed 5 of my first 6 deer. My Ruger MKII slabside probably has seen more rounds than most of my other guns combined and is what grab when I want to play or let others cool down. It has also accounted for a few chucks and squirrels.

My favorite gun I own is a Winchester 121 single shot bolt action .22. It's the gun I learned to shoot on, and it still makes it out to the woods more times then not. Inside 50 yards it is the most accurate gun I've ever shot. My second favorite is an 1898 bridge gun company single shot 16 ga. When I was younger I shot those two guns more then anything we owned. During the summer I'd go out and shoot my dog a bird to teach it how to retrieve. Kinda feel bad for all the black birds and sparrows but my dog ate every second of it up and still does, just not quite as quick at getting them anymore.

My favorite is a DPMS AP4 in 308. It is heavy but it always seems to hit the target. In fact my Son killed a Hog with it today at over 200yds. Never gets cleaned, rides in a 4 wheeler most of the time, gets rained on, and it still hits without jamming. I did replace the large Mag with a 10 rounder to reduce the size and weight.

My favorite gun is a Winchester model 88 in .243, handed down to me by my grandfather when I was 12, killed my first deer and many more with it until I was handed down a Remington model 700 in .270, my youngest will be using that model 88 this year and hopefully she will get her first with also! Been asked to sell it many times, but to much sentimental value to sell!

I have a Winchester classic fwt that started life as 7-mm08. I had Pacnor put a new 358 win bbl on her and I put it in a Micky stock. It's one of my favorite rifles. Rifles regularly come and go from my safe, but this one is a keeper!

My grandfather's 99 Savage in 300 Savage, the "Meataxe" as he called it. It feels different when I hold it, and the stories it could tell.

I also have my great-great grandfathers 94 saddle ring carbine, with half octagonal, half round barrel.

I also have my first .22, a Remington Nylon 66 Apache Black, and I can still shoot small rocks out of the air with it.

I really like your choices and stories because it shows something I've said for a long time.

Guns aren't machines, they're a living being because it is they that carry the stories for future generations.

I still tell the stories about my Great Grandfather's Winchester 1897 shotgun and his epic 0 for 5 shooting display after he managed to endure a muddy crawl and got himself right into the middle of a field that contained (by eyewitness estimates) at least 200 canada geese. And then he proceeded to miss 5 straight. He didn't take it well.

Great Grandpa was typical of Eastern Europeans and let's just say he was not exactly filled with the milk of humor and joy after that incident, which just made it that much more amusing for his brothers who witnessed the display of shooting prowers.

But now, almost a century on, the 97 Winchester is the only surviving witness to that day. It's still here, they're all gone, and so the guns and the stories they carry for us have the chance to outlive us all.

For deer hunting I generally grab my CZ550 in 6.5x55. Is it definitely my favorite. For coyotes, my 6XC hammers them and is just very easy and comfortable to shoot. Very accurate too.

But you don't care about fur friendly and all that other stuff?

Ruger 77/22 hornet. I could fill a dump truck with what I've killed with it. Dad bought it for me when I was 12 and it stays in one of my trucks. Deadly on everything from squirrels to predators.

For me it would have to be my Rem700 in 25-06 , bought it new in 1970 for $114.00 been my go to gun every big game season since , am also fond of a stevens 200 in 223 for predators and a truck gun , very accurate and not to much invested .

First off, I just have to say that I love this thread - it's refreshing in so many ways.

My favorite gun of mine is a plain old 700ADL in .30-06 that I bought at Wal-Mart 10 or 12 years ago. I put a $50 Bushnell 3-9 on it and have killed deer with it every single year that I've had it. Plain as can be, scratched up stock from resting it on fenceposts and carrying it all over creation, but it straight up puts deer on the ground, every single season.

Marlin Model 99M1 .22lr. Basically a model 60 action done up to look like an M-1 Carbine. Was my grand-dad's, my dad's, now mine until my kids are old enough. Ugly as sin, as been beat to he11, rear sight got lost (mounts on the scope dovetail rail) when my dad was in high school, front sight fell off when I was in college and I've never epoxy'd it back on. Still shoot very well with this rifle, even without the sights.

Ruger Mark II stainless standard .22lr. Picked it up when I was in high school for $90 from a buddy that bought it then got in trouble when his parents found out. Been swimming more than a few times going in after coons trying to drown my hounds, and killed more coons than I care to count with it. This pistol also spent time as a "loaner" or "trainer" when I was giving regular handgun training classes.

My wife's "gun I like" is her Marlin 1895 Stainless Guide Gun .45-70. I've spent a lot of hours polishing and refitting the action to make it smooth as butter. At a paltry 1792fps with Hornady Leverevolution 325grn FTX's, the ballistics aren't anything to brag about. She has other rifles that she can use (and does occasionally) in flatter shooting cartridges, but she just loves that rifle. Admittedly, I'm pretty jealous, it WAS my rifle that I hadn't ever shot before she took it over, now I'd be looking at about $1000 to buy and rebuild one like it, which is pretty hard to justify when I have about $500 into that one!

Here's a twist: Gun I just flat don't like, even though all of the numbers and every "gun guy" in America says I should: Glock 19. A company I was working for bought it for me as part of an experimental ammunition project I was working on back in 2004/5, so I own it. I shoot it well, and it does everything a semi-auto pistol should do, but I just don't care for it. If I had any of my own money wrapped up into it, I'd probably have sold it a long time ago, but since it was free, I keep it around as a nightstand gun. I just don't like it.

The ones that always seem to go with me are my CZ 527 American in .204 for 'chucks, ground squirrels or coyotes and my 700 ADL in .243 for coyotes or deer. The shotgun of choice is my Browning A-5 12 gauge. I have lots of others and love them all but these three are the ones I use most.
