Ballistics calcultor

How much do yall trust these calculators. I shoot a 22-250 use winchester whit box 45gr the calculator that winchester offers says 0 at 200 yards will drop about 5in in 300 yards i have found this to be close. In my shoots drop is about 6in but this could be me off an inch.

They're a tool but not the final say. Each gun/load/day is different and they get you close. Fine tuning after that is up to you.

yep just what these guys said, they're there to get you on paper, if you want to truly trust the program you MUST do your part... velocity, powder temp, input rifle profile, ie... length, twist... bullet profile, ie... BC, grains, make...and lots more... basic rule of thumb the higher BC round you run the better, with my 22-250 i'm good out to 250, @ 300 my drop is about 10inchs not bad (just aim at the top of the back) @ 400 im about 40inches low and thats about my cut off point with my 250, if i could run a heavier round @ significant vel. i would put a turret on my scope and use it for longer ranges, but then again thats why i have other rifles for those ranges...

The air temp makes a difference, don't forget to adjust it. I have found the table to be dead on with my Savage 12FV 22-250 with that Winchester load. Have tested it to 350 Yrd's with no variance from the table and with very tight groups.

The cheapest chronograph you can lay your hands on is the best investment. You're shooting in the dark without one. Then shoot to check it. Actual drops vary and scope adjustmenst aren't perfect either. Calculate it then check it on paper.

I had Ballistic FTE on my iTouch last year. Very impressive. I prefer it to the KAC Bulletflight.
I feel that "Shooter" in the android market is better than both, and it's cheaper than either one.

Ballistic apps are the only apps I've ever felt the desire to pay for.

All that said, I still had to verify actual velocity via bullet drop a few weeks ago. I was shooting zeroed at 100yds with all of my info calculated properly. Chrono'd at 2818 average, and made my scope adjustments for 385yds. 3shot groups had POI 6" higher than POA.

Chrono's aren't infallible and ballistic apps are prone to OPERATOR ERROR. Practice makes perfect...bullets don't lie.

yep this is true, even though you may get your velocity from a chrono, its not always gonna be dead nuts when you input your info into a ballistic program and "expect to hit center mass"... i upped my ballistic program from using bullet flight and FTE, to Delta IV LE, this program unlike most allows input of your powder temp when you chrono your rounds, which is factored in after running your POI test, and as long as you know your external temp (your carryin your gun in your pack hunting and the rounds assume outdoor temp) you enter that temp and it gets you much closer than your standard programs.

Also the bullet companys are VERY generous when it comes to the balistic coefficiant the give to their bullets. I read an article several years ago about someone who had checked BC's on various bullets and there was at least a 10% error factor with most and many were worse than that. Plus there are just so many other variables to deal with, tempature, elevation, barometric pressure, humidity, etc. Almost any of the programs allow you to change these variables and it's always interesting to see what a difference it makes.

I use the I Snipe app on my I Phone which one are you using

I tried iSnipe and wasn't impressed. Deleted it and I got KAC Bulletflight when it was like $15 and had to pay for the first upgrade. Sequential ones were free IIRC.
Ballistic FTE was superior to both. (but I still don't think either one are as nice as "Shooter" for the Android system)

I use this free site, for chucks I make my increments at five yards. In regard to inacuracies of B.C.'s I will shoot some rounds at 300 yards, measure the drop center of the group then massage the B.C.I put that into the calculations and this will make it dead on for your rifle.I took a chuck at 535 yards that was laying down with my dope chart( I think it was 8 minutes of elavation or 56" of holdover),so it works for me.
For coyotes I use 25 yard increments and I make a dope chart with yardage, holdover and minutes up.Most of the time you dont have time to dial up on the elevation so I just use holdover.

check your danger space on that, you may not need to account for dope every 25yds... depending on your "true" not calculated trajectory.
