It is impossible for my small brain to get itself around how this "church" and "pastor" claim to follow the teachings of the Gospels of Jesus Christ.
It is as though this man has not even read the bible, even one time. To willingly distort the word of God is unforgivable. This is hardly a minor disagreement over the interpretation of a passage, this man's hateful message is something far removed from Christianity. I pity the kids who attend this "church." What an awful message to grow up with.
This kind of bile is the exact OPPOSITE of the teachings of Jesus I learned in Sunday school: forgiveness, turning the other cheek, and then, at the end, on the Cross Christ said: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
" Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy; but I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."—Matthew v. 43-48
Compare that to the Koran's: "When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks." Qur. 47:3 I think Rev. Wright's tone does sound rather Muslim, the "religion of peace."
I'd be very curious to be a fly on the wall at their Easter services this Sunday!
