I was crossing a fence, stepping on the wire right next to the post. As I swung my leg over, the wire I was standing on, dropped on the post about 3 inches, letting the heel of my hand catch my weight. The post had been driven into this HARD Missouri terrain, and the top of it was splattered and very sharp. I ended up with about 20 stitches, and a new-found respect for T-posts. (I suppose it could have been MUCH worse. It could have caught me in the lower groin, or worse yet.....)
Now, I go under the wire almost every time.
And I bet the landowner wasn't too happy when he found that wire & had to put it back where it belonged.
Trust me...farmers hate it when hunters try to climb over the fence by stepping on the fence. It not only can move the wire, but it stretches it...and could possibly cause it to break if the wire has any age to it.
Just sayin'. Gotta keep our landowners happy, so we can get permission to hunt!
