Repete, I was by no means upset by your post. I just wanted to add to it is all. Your post is spot-on.
Think of it this way: If someone ordered a custom AR from me and did not have it fluted. Later, they called and told me they were going to have someone flute the barrel, as it was a little too heavy for them. I would probably tell them to have it done at their own risk. In other words, it would void their accuracy guarantee. How else could I do it? The fluting would be out of my control, I would have no way of knowing that it would be done properly. Just like Shilen would have no way of knowing that their barrels would be treated correctly if fluted. I would have nothing to gain, and much to lose. Now if that customer called me and asked if it would be OK if they had their barrel fluted by someone that I KNEW would flute it correctly, I would have no problem with it. That is basically what Shilen has done for me.
