Barking beagle near by.. Hindering the hunt ?

Last night we were setting up in a field which was a great spot. But a couple hundred yards away was a beagle in a pen that would not keep quiet about our presence. So we kinda went farther away. I tried to keep my call low using a rabit distress but the beagle kept up its barking. A coyote responded to the call and was on its way. But never came all the way in. I am blaming the beagle. Tell me do you think a near by dog hurts the hunt? Thanks for reading. I need all the help I can get.
 
i was always told that dogs will ruin your fox hunts especially if your targeting reds.. not 100% sure.. i just know i dont hunt around houses with crapeaters.. i cant stand to listen to them bark when im not hunting let alone while im trying to hunt.. if i go into a set and get busted by dogs i just turn and leave...
 
I've had grey fox come in to a distress call while our hounds were barking in a dog box not very far away. I think in some locations they become accustom to dog/dogs barking at residences near woods and aren't afraid.

Ahhh, what do YOU know about dogs anyway? How are ya, Beagler?, haven't heard from you in a while. Gearing up for this fall already??

Yeah I guess you can say I'm getting ready. I've had a pretty bad summer. My dad and I were fishing for walleye on the night of june 5th when two drunks rammed into my boat. My dad was in the hospital for six weeks, two of which were on a respirator in ICU. We weren't sure he was going to make it for awhile. We were in the water 45 minutes before a rescue boat arrived to pull us out. The guys that hit us appeared heavily intoxicated and admitted to have been drinking. The PA Fish Commission STILL HAS NOT FILED CHARGES YET. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif They showed up at my house FIVE WEEKS after the accident to take pictures of my boat. The other boat hit us full throttle and actually jumped over mine and crushed it.
Quite the summer for my family.
 
I had a black lab barking 50yrds behind me the other night and I still saw "eyes" i think it was a red. I dont think that the dogs really bother them
 
dont bother coyotes here if there a couple hundred yards off. just wouldnt want to have it barking 30yds behind me thats all. coyotes like to kill dogs if there smaller though...

Yeah - it depends on the area. If a dog just shows up and starts barking I'm sure that's bad for business, but I hunt in an area that has a lot of farms nearby and there are plenty of dogs barking at night. The foxes don't mind them and the coyotes just bark back at them :)

Animals just get used to their environment and ignore the usual stuff. I've seen foxes running around in fields while a combine has been out there with the big headlights shining all over the place and making tons of mechanical racket, etc.
 
i was running my beagles other day n a frirnd of mine was calling yotes maybe 2 to 300 yds away he called a big male in n dropped it i guess these yotes are use to our beagles running all the time im dyieing to get into yote hunting we got plenty of themh here on these old strip mines n the thing about it very few hunt these yotes my friend who killed the onew i was talking about just started i love reading these posts bet its not near as fun as the real thing jb
 
I can't say for sure but I can say this . I spent almost 3 months camping with my beagle. I keep her tied up about 20-30 feet from my truck at camp. Coyotes came 3 seperate times to eat my beagle. they where right in camp and probably would have eaten it if I didn't pop off some rounds with the shotgun to scare them. However my beagle is silent unless she's running a rabbit. I would say , use the beagles for bait lol !

also I did alot of hunting like 500 yards from the city limit and you can constantly hear dogs , cars, a heard elk on a farm, plus it was deer season so alot of deer rifles being shot.Didn't seem to scare the coyote too much. I have almost no clue what i'm doing and I still called in coyote with just a hand call.
 
My dad was bow hunting on his property in late October. He heard some dogs running on the property next to his....he was pissed. Well, the dogs eventually made it within sight of him and there was a coyote running with them. 2 of the dogs were larger than the coyote and 2 were smaller. I don't know if the coyote was waiting for an opportunity for a snack or what? Kind of interesting.
