BARREL LENGTH

The shorter barrels are generally stiffer and in theory hold a slight accuracy edge. You do lose velocity and perhaps gain some noise as well. For a 22-250 I'd want 24" as a minimum.

So, I would opt for a 24" sporter barrel which is probably what you will find for sale.

Even a 20" 223 is very loud with some ball powders.

Call me stupid, but I like getting that sound away from my ears.

Huh... did you say something?

I bought my Rem 700 with a 26" varmint bbl with plans of having it shortned to 22". After shooting it, I decided I wasn't going to mess with cutting it down and I'm glad I didn't. It shoots too well mess with and extra velocity doesn't hurt anything It's one of my go-to rifles for coyotes. It alot more pleasent on the ears too vs a 20" bbl 22-250.

Thanks everyone. Lots of good information. I also didn't realize the 22-250 was loud. Will start the process of trying to find a left hand bolt action. Again, thank you all for your responses................Frank
