barrel weight question

Wondering how much weight is removed from a contoured blank during chambering (300 wsm) threading and crown.

Im looking at a #3 Brux (3.0lbs) or #4 Brux ( 3.5lbs) sporter.

Is the weight listed for the full 27" blank "E" or the 24" finished length "D"?

I'm with Rob and say chambering is a few ounces

Get with your smith, may be able to cut the shank down some. I've seen guys go 3/4" shank. I have one with 1". That's the fat part of the barrel and would see the most weight savings.
 
Im going to flute it so will lose a little there also. Was trying to make the weight work with a hvy sporter. I want the finished bare rifle to come in @ 6.5-6.75. May ask about a custom contour to shave a few ozs off.

What stock are you using?
 
Looked at the Mcmillan ultra light but couldn't swing $600 at this time. Went with a B&C Alaskan II (30oz) and Rem 700 short action stainless (blueprinted). Going to have the bolt fluted, handle and trigger guard skeletonized. More aesthetics than weight reduction, but there is some weight reduction.

Should be looking at

sub 2 lb stock (same stock on my 7mm weighs 28oz after fitting etc)
2 lb action (after trueing, fluting etc)
2.5-2.9lb barrel still looking at contours

I bought an HS precision clip kit which may add a couple oz to the overall weight (.5lbs for the kit)May be a wash as it replaces all the bottom metal.
