Barska scope quality

$300 is your limit. A Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40 retails for $299.99, How does Barska even enter into this conversation?

There is a plethora of quality optics out there for under $300. Weaver, Nikon, Bushnell, Leupold, Redfield, Meuller and Vortex have optics in your price range that won't ever need to be "Upgraded" unless you think you "need" a 56mm objective or a 1000X magnification range.

Willingly paying $300 for a Barska...

sounds a lot like going naked to a party and chugging roofie-colatas.

A redfield is good glass in the $400 range, and yet it only costs around $150

Sounds like me. I keep every POS glass that comes in on any gun I buy so I have something to throw on a rifle I put in an auction. At best it will be mounted so I can function test a new gun and then pulled before I start actually shooting it.

This thread explains a lot. I have a Barska scope on my AR that came with it. I bought the gun used. For the life of me, I can not get consistent results from the rifle. never have been able to get it centered in at 100 yards. Someone said when adjusting it, it does not seem to "click right" sometimes it feels good, and other times it is mushy. This is just what I am finding. Now that I know it is the scope and not something I am doing wrong, I guess it is time for a new scope. Just wish i had the dough for one right now. Thanks PM! I have learned something new and it has cost me more money!

any weaver, bushnell elite, used vx-II or 3(not the stupid fast focus that replaced it).

If you really have to go low budget look into mueller scopes.

Always remember a used leupold is still under warranty. You don't have to be the original owner. No questions asked.

sightron has a similar warranty and also nice glass.

[beeep] I have a Nikon 3x9-40 for sale in the classifides and nobody wants to buy it. Im asking 150 like new go look at it. Its a few pages back now

This was funny, this guy had that Barska on a nice Remington 700. I took it in trade and offered to take off and give it back the the guy. He didn't want it. LOL

I still have the scope, anyone want it?? Just pay shipping. "My brother in law doesn't want it."

The reviews on the site all look good, but I have always wondered if they pay people to write good review.
thanks guys!

It's not that they pay people, it's that people that buy that sort of stuff are looking to replace their current binoc's that have Mickey mouse on the side. They don't know any better.

So it is more like they are upgrading from wally world stuff to target, better but only because they could not get anything worse than they already have. Bad example, it makes sense. Thanks

I would NOT use that smith to build me a BB gun!

The glass is chit, chit, chit, chit, chit.

Probably the best buy would be a Redfield Revolution. Cmon, guys, after all its a Leupold. I have several of them and they are a great buy.

I know I am hijacking this thread, but I did not want to start a new one. My wonderful wife let me go to Cabela's and look at scopes today....and she knows I can't just look. I ended up with the Nikon P-223 BDC 600 and am very happy with it so far. I had the mount and bore sight it while I went upstairs for an elk burger. Due to time constraints and the weather, I went to an indoor shooting range for the first time in my life, interesting experience but that is another story.

It took a few shots to get on the paper, then walked the groups up to center at way to close of range to tell any of you. Then I moved it back to 24.5 yards, as far back as I could get. I am very happy with where I ended. I was using PMC bronze FMJ 55 grain bullets shooting 5 round groups from a 5 round mag. Still looking for someone to teach me about reloading. All pictures are from my 2nd target.

Not sure what happened with that one shot from group 4...

This really is 5 shots under a dime.

I quit while I was ahead and am very glad I found this thread and ditched that Barska scope, because that is where this thread started.
