Bass Pro-Springfield has Rem 700 ADLs for $296

The only gripe I have against Walmart is their hypocritical and misleading ad theme of patriotism and buying American while their merchandises come mostly from overseas.

Now, that stinks.

Well if they did that Howard the store wouldn't have too much merchandise. As we don't make much here anymore. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

I don't have an employer my spelling my be bad the periods and comas my not be in place. I made well over 150,000 clear last year running my own thing, loyalty and honesty are something of the past You have an FFL with out a store front? I am not union by any means I am 57 and put together everything I have Your Wall Mart reduces the standard of living for thier employees along with a lot of the big bussiness. Ya it works both ways but using people for the dollar really sucks. Look at Emron they ruined loyal people, Big bussiness is fine if they follow the golden rule. Keep selling for 10% over without a store front you are beating Walley World out of a sale plus a local gunshop out of his mark-up. Boy I hope an engineer
don't come along and does your job for 10% over or someone from a 3rd world country does it for half and works 12 hours a day. Good luck I can't stand people like you

Mauser,

No, I do not have a store front and the FFL is more of a hobby (learning gunsmithing skill) for me. It certainly is not an income I count on to pay the light bill.

A little over four years ago I lost my dot com job, which was paying me six figures. My job went overseas to Bombay where contract Indian software engineers were paid 1/5 of my pay producing the same product.

I was unemployed and did work for Walmart part-time for $10/hour for a few months to get out of the house and kept my sanity. I certainly thanked Walmart for the job.

Eventually I swung and made a few changes to develop new skills, still in software world but different area where my skill was applicable and locally needed.

Do I feel bitter toward my former employer for exporting my job to overseas program analyst? Heck no. They have to do what is necessary for the company to survive and earn a profit. Why blame them for hiring someone else who could do the job I was doing for much less pay? Why would I be entitled to a phonily high salary for a job someone else could do for much less? just because I am American? that is the nonsense incompetent people put up when they get the pink slip.

I'd rather channel my energy into finding another niche to break in. I kept a positive attitude and did what was necessary to make myself marketable again.

Though I do not earn as much as I used to and probably will never get back to the hey day of booming dot com. I certainly am much better off than some of my former colleagues who spent their years of unemployment refusing to take a $10/hour job at Walmart and spent the whole time bitching and whining against everyone else but themselves. Some ended up in divorces and alcoholism.

I am not surprised you cannot stand people like me..... We are just two different extremes.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I'd rather exercise initiatives to work my way out of tight spot than pointing fingers at others for my shortcoming of being unable to adapt to new situation and new world with broken fourth grade English writing skill. That's what Americanism is all about......competition competition and competition. That's what made this country wealthy and stay the number one world power.

I bought a Encore at basspro that they had on sale for $499. Whene we got it out of the box it had dirt on the buttplate like it was leened up against a truck on a dirt road. And in further inspection we found a very small bur at the end of the barrel. You couldnt even see it. So small you could barely feel it. They knocke off an additional 15% that made it $424. The lady team leader at basspro told me that it was illegal to sell a used gun as brand new. the lady at BP told me its at least they could do and she wished she could do more...Im not sayin i support walmart or any other big store,we just got to think a lil about this. I support all local buisness big and samll,I guess we could boycot walmart and basspro and be unhappy because we cant get what we want sometimes, but further more if we done that we would have to support the hundreds they employ because they went out of buisness and they went on well fare! Swallow your pride and be realistic'this aint the old days grandpa talks about. This is now.

Like it or not the big discount stores have been the wave of the future for many years. I, like many others, hate to see the "mom & pop" stores vanish. But like other parts of our world, they are rapidly becoming dinosaurs. Bottom line if Walmart, K-Mart, Target, etc., were not what the shopping public wanted, they would have faded from the scene long ago.

On the topic of service, I have found the "big box" stores more willing to take care of a problem than any small retailer. I think that is true because they sell such large volumes of merchandise, that returns are just a cost that is factored into the retail price you pay.

And Howard, not so hard on the spelling and grammer, I am just a poor civil engineer. Remember, it took me four years to learn than sh@# flows down hill.

People dont like walmart (and other companys) as they are no different than any other large or small company. They have a bottom line to worry about. Most cant tell the difference anymore between walking on people, and making money. Funny how its a crime in america of all places, to make a profit these days. Just watch the news, the left is on a greatest class warfare campaign we have ever seen!

My only source of income is investing in companies, domestic and offshore, who increase their earnings, and stock prices.

No company can take care of their employees unless it is able to compete in the world market.

Ok guys ive done it now. I had to change my post a little because i offended two very good folks.
I deal with another guy and i posted my original reply just to get him stirred up, And i didnt realize that i put the shop in town. Well i happen to be friends with the guys in town also. And these guys are very good to deal with and usually have what you need. they would never tell someone tough [beeep]. And i pretty much said they would. And i didnt mean it to sound that way.
Ive offended two really good people that would probably go way far out of there way to take care of someone, and probably me'even after my stupid post.
I dont really support any piticular shop or big store but it was wrong of me to say what i said.
