Just wondering if any body was using rechargeable batteries in their calls and lights as i was wondering what type you use and any specific brand of batteries and charger.

Thanks,

I've been using these as well with great results. They aren't cheap, but they'll save you a lot of money in the long run.

I did some looking on eBay and for the rechargeable it hard to find some with a larger capacity mah most was 800 but I did find some 1800 so guess I'm gonna give them a try I'm using them in a noxx hand held scanning light it's a battery eater on the cold nights about 3 hours on low with an occasional sweep on high but temps were in the 20s . I understand battery life drops in the cold so really not complaining just trying to offset battery cost .

Thanks guys I will report my findings from my batteries when I get them and give email a try I got 24 aka figured if I charges them I could switch Everest and still be good .
Deer season is over here tomm so ill be able to get a little daytime hunting in without the worry of getting shot or arguing with a deer hunter

If you dont want to go the rechargeable rout get some lithium Ions. They last a long time and work great when its real cold.

Unless you've got an endless supply of free alky batteries do yourself a financial favor and invest in some Panasonic Eneloop rechargeable batteries and a good smart charger. I've been using Eneloops and a MaHa charger for the last three years and I highly recommend them.

3 yrs ago I bought a set of eneloops at Costco, about $16 with a charger. Still going STRONG! Best money I ever spent.

I got to try my rechargeable aaa batteries in my Knox scan light needless to say I'm not happy at all they cut my light use from about 40 min on bright side to 15 min even on the low side they didn't last as long as I switched batteries out for the next stand and just used the low side but after 30 min it would not even go to high side

No they are not eneloop i got the highest mah that I could find they are 1800 but no good so far,
Maybe light just eats them up and it's was quite cold 4 degrees now my xlr light scans seems like all night on low but I hate to take it off the gun and add another complex thing to handle when the eyes shine .
Any body have any ideas or should I try just a different brand and see what they do for me .

Thanks,
Scott

When I first got my Firestorm I tried straight alkaline's, couldn't get more than a couple sets with them. Went to Radioshack and got some of their rechargeable's and a charger. They're somewhere around 2400 mah. These work good for me. Keep thinking I'll get the Foxpro's with a charger so I can plug it in when I'm out, but haven't needed to yet.

Rechargeable batteries are the way to go but if you decide to use lithium Ions be sure you check out the safety precautions associated with them. They can and do explode. With lithium Ions you need to buy the best you can find (protected) and get a good charger and follow the instuctions. Actually since rechargeable batteries save tons of money do not skimp on quality and once again follow the instructions.

I guess I'm the odd ball, no rechargeable a here, gave up on them. I hunt for weeks on end with out ever having 110 power to hook up to and usually ended up with a bunch of dead rechargebles bouncing around the van. It would take a lot of ÀKLs to pay for a solar panel and inverter.

I also hated the fact that one of a set would die and that was an even bigger Hassel.

I had 8 old batteries in my FoxPro that had not been charged for over 1 year. 7 of them were FoxPro batteries and the 8th was an off brand called Powerizer. they all recharged after almost 3 hours. then I put 8 (new) never been charged before Powerizers in the charger to have a backup pack with me. so far after about an hour and a half none have charged. I bought them 2 or 3 years ago but never charged them.

I just ordered some of the Panasonic Eneloop batteries. Question: how long should I wait to charge the new batteries if I don't need to use them right away? how long will they last on the shelf never being charged? seems like the old batteries charged up a lot sooner than these new ones have so far. getting ready for a planned hunt tomorrow night.

When you first receive rechargeables, they will not be full charged. You need to charge them before using. The black rechargeables from FoxPro have excellent shelf life, but they need to be charged before use. Most of the newer batteries supposedly don't have memory, but you will never hurt yourself by charging them the first time, run them down, and recharge. Conditioning them is a good thing.

thanks Al. it's been over well 3 hours with these new batteries in the charger and not one of them are ready yet. I am not sure how long to let them charge before giving up on them. I guess I will pack some disposable Duracells with me for a backup. glad I started a day early to get everything charged up. lol got the Flir charged and fresh batteries in the D760 and the PVS-14 so I suppose I am as ready battery wise as I can get for now.
