New to board and my first post. After coon hunting for 13 years and bird hunting for 15 I finally got tired of chasing big dogs onto someone elses property and losing dogs. Then came the little hounds. Easier to catch and rabbits run circles. The beagles run anything. Turned lose they will 9 out of 10 times start a rabbit, but when combined with a predator call, will run a grey fox like crazy. What a hoot to turn out on a hot fox track. I have turned them out on fox and bobcat and they run both with ease. Don't turn out on coyotes because they will kill the little hounds. Coyotes are not cowards when it comes to dogs. Fox is a faster race than a rabbit. I don't think rabbits give off as much scent as do a fox. Don't use a gun very often on rabbit or fox but enjoy calling and the chase. Didn't realize how many other hunters looked down on hound hunters until the internet let them speak thier mind without being seen.
