Anyone have experience with this bow? I had an older buckmaster 2000. I took it to the shop near me to get restrung and got it back a month later grrrr. To make matters worse I got 5 shots out of it and put it away for the day. I was having a smoke in the garage when all of a sudden BANG. Scared the crap out of me as peices of my bow flew everywhere. I took it back the next day in peices

and he was sorry and promised to fix it and make it right. After thinking about it I asked what I could get a new one for. He said 350 and I get to strip my old bow of excesorries. Seems descent to me so did I make out alright in the end?

No experience with that bow but wow I think you got lucky,
if he will do you good on a new bow would be ok but I would think twice about him working on it in the future.
I had my Oneida Eagle blow a limb at full draw after getting it worked on at a local shop but got lucky also with no damage to me.
The place that worked on it never got any more buisness from me again, I found a shop that had experience with and new what they were doing with the Onieda Eagle.

I bought a Lights Out last weekend. I'm brand new to bows (this is my first), but I like it so far. I had a couple of friends that know bows better than me shoot it and they said that they liked it. (who knows if they were just being nice?) I bought mine at Cabela's for $299, so you may be able to get it for cheaper than you expected.

He definatly wont be working on any more bows for me. I definatly had to check my short after lol. Motojunkie this bow has sights, guiver, whisker biscuit already on it plus I get to take off the stuff from my old bow. The prices are usually more in Canada to so I dont think it's to bad a deal. It's brand new, smaller, lighter and faster then my old bow so hopefully it will be a descent bow for me.

I would take the new bow at that price and still make him fix it. It was his fault it came uncorked especially since it sounds like you were not even touching it, so why should you be out what you took to him to fix in the first place? Get the new bow, have him fix the old one and make a few bucks on it. Or keep it as a backup. One never knows when one might need a backup. I have seen bows come apart for no aparent reason and its real bad when your a long way from home. A simple thing like a string loop coming undone can end a hunt, especially if you dont know how to tie on a new loop, fix a serving or whatever.

By the way, the Bear lights out is a pretty smooth, good shooting bow. Not top of the line but more than adequate.

I realize it's not top of the line but I cant see spending $800 on just a naked bow so I think it will do. I realize it was his fault but I dont want to be an [beeep] about it. I figured he is trying to do the right thing so he will continue to have my business just not with bow work. He sells fishing stuff so when needed I will go to him for that.

That's a smokin' deal if it's coming with all the accessories. Again, I know nothing about bows, but I paid $299 for mine without all that stuff.

I agree that they guy that did the work on your old bow should make it right. Either that or he should refund your money and pay you for the bow he destroyed.

Had a similar thing happen while out shooting my Mathews, it just came apart! Took it in to the dealer and he asked when I was going turkey hunting, told him three days. He says well, I 'll get on the phone to Mathews right now and have it back by the time you leave or I'll give you my demo bow to use for turkey hunting. Now thats service!!!!!
Anyway Bear makes a good solid bow, you'll probably be happy with the lights out, but what I don't get is you said... plus I get to keep my old accessories? I'd make him fix what he caused to break or get him to give you a great deal on that bow with the accessories from your old bow. But thats me I guess.

The new bow comes with whisker bisquit sights and quiver. I get to keep my stabilizer(dont remember the brand) wrist strap and sims limsaver off my old bow. I get the new bow for 350. He normally sells them for $600 plus tax. I wont be able to get him to fix my old bow for me and still get this deal.
