Beeman Air Rifle

I bought a Beeman model 1073 that has the two barrels: .177 and .22 cal pellets. Its suppose to shoot the 177's at 1000fps and the 22's at 800fps. Comes with a Beeman 4X32 scope.

Did I buy a pile of junk?
What distance would I zero this in at?

Its mainly for fun but if this rifle shoots good I want to use it for nosey neighbors!!! Not really but might be good for small coons or rabbits?
 
Beeman has put out a wide variety of stuff over the years. More into the high power rifles instead of the most accurate.
In my dealings with them they have had pretty good CS.
To my knowledge they do not make anything themselves, just market different manufacturers, usually branded with the Beeman name.

I have the exact same air rifle. Junk? No. Top of the line..no. Will it get the job done...yes. There are no more tree rats around my house and my longest kill has been 40 yds. The trick is finding out what pellet works best. I use the PBA Raptors .22 cal. They go 1000fps and hit HARD. My friend has a coyote skull and from 10 yds away, it went right in but did not come out. This was right in the top of the skull. An eye shot would be needed to insure a kill but I would not trust it to kill a coyote. But raccoons, tree rats and other small game....no problem. But like I said, not the best but not the worst. I paid $150 for mine. Put a couple hundred rounds through it and it will settle down and become reliable. Do not use Hoppes or any othe bore solvent to clean it out. The solvent will destroy the o-rings. There are products out there to clean out the lead. For the price, I am a happy back yard sniper. This is just a hobby for me but there are folks on this site that have far more experience than I do with air rifles. I dont think I got burned but some folks would recomend spending a hundred or two more for a much better air rifle......Im ok with what I have.
