Benelli Montefeltro vs Beretta A300?

When I checked out jcs271 link here on the Benelli Monte at Dunn' I saw they also have the Beretta A300 at a great price.I dont know much about either gun.Which would be the better choice?

Both great guns. The decision you need to make is do you want an inertia gun or a gas gun. Some people like one, some the other. I prefer the inertia gun because of a couple of reasons. The inertia gun will run even if it's filthy and the inertia gun is so much easier to clean. I can clean my Benelli in 5 minutes. No way to clean a gas gun that fast.

Another thing to keep in mind is, the gas gun doesn't kick as hard. Not a lot of difference but there is a difference.

And some inertia's can be finicky on real light-loaded shells. Although I've never had an issue myself, and I prefer inertia guns for the above-stated reasons, I dont shoot REALLY lite loaded shells. My loads are usually warm 1 oz and up and I havent had a problem in my Monte. Something to consider - most? of the Franchi's since Benelli owns them have the recoil springs up front over the mag tube vs in the stock on the Monte's, and are priced similarly. Mine has a rusty spring and tube due to a prior owners neglect, and I fear the day I need to get a rusty steel tube unscrewed from an aluminum receiver to replace - works well so far, so letting sleeping dogs lie. The newer mag tube springs allow much easier access to clean and lube. Ex. - there's a Franchi I-12 NOS on GB right now asking $525 to get the bidding started - not mine, dont know who's it is, just glanced and saw it. Uses mobilchokes, has mag tube spring, etc. AND, Montefeltro's' cant take a mag tube extension IF you desire one - not an issue for most hunters I'd imagine. JMHO - YMMV

Thanks for the advice.Actually I was first thinking about getting a Browning BPS before I saw the Dunn deals. The Benelli appeals a little more to me than the Beretta.IMO a better deal and the easy cleaning is always welcome after a hard day in the field. Now it's down to the BPS and Monte.

Each of those three have a completely different feel. I'd suggest you hold them before you make your decision.
Also there are no slug barrels available for the Montefeltros if that matters, not sure about the others.
I have a 20ga Montefeltro.
My buddies BPS is a tank, the hand spacing and stock are too long for me.
I didn't like the feel of the grip on the stock of the Berreta.
Just my personal experience and observations.

Thanks crow. There's a Bass Pro shop not to far from me where I can check them out for fit/feel.There's only a few counties left in NY that still dont allow CF rifles so the slug barrel isnt an issue for me.Besides I have slug barrels for two other shotguns left from the old days.

I sprung for a set of Monte's 15 or more years ago, a 12 and a 20. I've never felt the need for any other shotguns, these handle so well IMO. The little 20 is just a joy to carry.

I had an A300, but sold it to a buddy, he loves it. I never had the monte but have and still have my M2, both are great guns. Check out the Franchi Affinity too, also a fine gun for the money (built in the same factory as the M2s).
