I know there are a dew people on this board that shoot Xtrema 2s. Just wondering what choke/load combo is patterning well for you?

Thanks,

Blackjaw

I have been shooting the Primos Jelly Head Choke tube with #4 buck with good results. I am shooting a Benelli SBE II. I have been really happy with the Primos choke tube though.

check out the patterning sticky at the top of the page, I am pretty sure a few guys used the extrema 2

good luck

Dave

Bringing this back to the top. Still not satisfied with the chokes I have tried with # 4 buckshot/dead coyote and the new Carlson's Dead coyote chokes win't fit the Xtrema 2.

Thanks Again,

Blackjaw

When it comes to patterning chokes, each choke will pattern a brand and load different. Settle first on a brand and load for your gun before you exhaust yourself on the chokes. Just because a manufacturer calls something a yote killer doesn't mean it patterns well in all guns, under all loads etc, you get the point. Also length of barrell will be a factor in choke pattern.

Just remember to match the tube with the shot material being used.... some chokes won't handle Hevishot....

But check out Indian Creek and Pure Gold choke tubes, they have great customer service....

Kicks Industries and Patternmaster also have predator chokes but I have no experience with them....

Hi Beagler,

Yeah, I bought the one for hevi-shot that they claimed fit Benelli/Beretta and it doesn't fit. Which one is your Dad using?

If it just says "Fits Benelli/Beretta" that is for the Mobile Choke system. Your gun uses either the newer Crio or Crio Plus chokes.

That's the one.

The Xtrema-2 use the OBF choke system.(Optima Bore Field)

Optima chokes are Beretta nomenclature... which directly interchanges with the Crio chokes of Benelli. Same thing, different name. His problem before was that he had the older Beretta/Benelli Mobile Chokes, which won't fit his Xtrema II.

I am not sure that the crio barrel benelli's and the optima plus bore berettas have the same bore diameter.

Optima and optima plus bored Beretta barrels are nominal 0.732 bore diameter and benelli crio and crio plus bores are nominal bore diamter of 0.725 so that could be a bad bad ending even if they thread in to the opposite

Not so - the older Mobile Choke guns have the .723" bores while the newer Crio/Optima has the .735" bore. Beretta and Benelli have used the same chokes for years, they just use a different name for their own respective guns. Same for Browning & Winchester now. In the past Winchester, Weatherby, SKB, and Mossberg used the same chokes - all by different names of course dependent upon the maker of the gun. It would be nice if there was some standardization of bore diameters, choke constrictions, and choke systems. Alas... that would seem to be too easy for the consumer so it obviously isn't gonna happen. Most of those factory chokes are outsourced and it is interesting to know who actually produces the chokes for the different gun companies.

cowpoke... ya know what? I think you might be right. Here is what it looks like to me. The chokes WILL interchange. HOWEVER, the patterns could well be different between the two barrels because there IS a difference in internal diameters. I can see where the skirt of the choke interacts with the differing diameters that could very likely cause plastic wad build up right there - and it will change the constriction of the choking. I would absolutely buy the choke that was marked exactly for my particular gun for best fit and performance. In this case, the Beretta Optima. I was sorta correct, but not really, if that makes sense. Thank's for setting me straight - I needed that.
