I have tried reloading for 3 different calibers using Berger 140 VLD bullets. .270, 7mm Mag, and 264 WM. I have been working on my 264 for the last two weeks off and on with unacceptable results. I have had very nice 4 shot groups of .475 @ 200yds using 140 gr A-MAX with 63gr H4831sc and coal of 3.304. But I was not happy with the performance for a hunting bullet, which they are not. So I keep trying VLd bullets but 1.1" or so at 100 yds is about the best I have had so far. The Berger book recommends a coal of 3.340. Using 63.5 gr of H4831sc I am getting groups of over 3" at 100 yds. At 3.374 coal its 1" to 1.3". But the bullet is into the lans at this depth. I have herd some guys jump the Bergers as much as .025. This is a factory model 700 with a match trigger and a 4.5X14X50 Leopold. Any recommendations? And I should add I have seen no signs of excessive pressure.
