Best .17 hornet on the market?

Very nice, the main reason I'm looking at the hornet is to prevent pelt damage on bobcat this season. I was advised not to use my .17 hmr, and it's true that it wouldn't really offer kill shots past 125-150. I'll be purchasing a trijicon accupoint 3-9x40 to place on whichever model I end up with.

I'm glad to see they're being put to good use :)

I may have to hold the savage to see how it feels, which model did you have? I believe they have a camo/extended barrel model.

It was the Lightweight Varminter I believe. It was not lightweight, but was made from better materials ( both stock, and jeweled bolt for ex.) than the Mod 25 Walking Varminter I originally thought about purchasing. It was a good bit more expensive than the Walking Varminter too; which would put it in the CZ range. When I bought the Savage, CZs were just rumors.
The 17 hornet is a great bobcat round within reasonable distances and is great on fur. I usually call in a handful of bobcats, coyotes, badgers, etc. when I'm out calling coons, so the 17 hornet fit the bill perfectly. No more runners on coons either and for the most part, less fur damage then my 22 mag.
I used a 17 hmr for one season on coons, went straight back to a 22 mag.
I'd still stick with a CZ btw.

Well what i originally started with was a ugly ole Savage model 25 walking varminter and kind of dressed her up. New stock,Rustoleum paint, Nikon Monarch. Doesn't look too bad anymore and shoots 25 grain Bergers into tiny little groups. Plus it also played a hand in the killing of my bigget cat to date.

Same idiot, same kind of crap.

Not that you don't have a long history of stepping in at times when smoke is being blown, Mr. Ackman....

Carry on troops. No troll or idiot comments and I'm good.

It is a boyd's tacticool. I had them make it in a different color with the scale laser checkering. I think it makes the gun look pretty good now. Just go to their website and enter your gun and check custom options and boom a new stock in less than 2 weeks.
