--- Best 30-06 Brass??----

I am gathering components for my 338-06 build and I need some brass.

I have always just loaded once fired stuff but I am going to buy new brass for this. I just can't decide what brass to get. Here are my choices:

Rem- $44/100
Hornady- $33/50

These are the only two in stock at the moment. I know the hornady brass is probably "better" but I don't know if it's worth the extra cost.

Thanks guys!

If you decide you want to use once-fired brass also, I have
a lg. box full of LC 30-06 brass that I got from base when I decided to build an 8mm-06, and I have plenty of brass left.

^ Thank you for the offer!

Did that brass hold up well?

I'll let you know if I decide to go that route.

If those were my 2 choices I would use the Hornady brass. I have had great luck with Hornady and Winchester commercial brass.
I have used the LC brass and it is good stuff as well.....

Its worth the extra money to get the Hornady if your going to stretch it out...the Remington brass seems to split every time I try to re-form it...better yet get some Winchester if you can find it.

I have to opposite issue, Hornady brass is NOT what Id use.
From all my loadings it has split necks or fractured at the bases in under 5 loadings and at very moderate loads.
Id go w/LC 1st then Win to RP, but thats just me.

I have several boxes of LC .308 Mil.brass that I use for my match rifle, and it is pretty tough brass. I won't have to invest in brass for any of my rifles for quite awhile
.223/5.56,.308, 30-06 all LC brass
Sure glad I policed the range every so often back then.
