Best aftermarket AR trigger

Yup. Read that.

A lot of people think you have to go spend a bunch of money on aftermarket triggers, and that is fine. I'm not against people spending their money as they see fit. I was simply pointing out a different method, which does require some after market parts to achieve.
 
If one is looking for a mil design type trigger with most of the mil-spec demons exorcised, try an ALG. It's sold by a division of Giessele (Mrs. Geissele). They're 45 or 66 dollars depending on the finish. I have a 6x45 with a $45 ALG qms trigger and JP low tension springs. No grit, no creep, sharp 4 pound break. No light primer strikes, yet.
 
I've had the same set up and had a lot of light primer strikes. No way does it compare to a Hispeed Geissele, not even close.
If it works for you, good, but I can tell a world of difference.

No argument here. 2 of my ARs run Geisseles (SD-Es). There is, as you say, no comparison. The intent was to respond to Dpollard and say that, as low cost alternative to monkeying around with a mil-spec, the ALG does work - for me - on what I want my 6x45 to do.

For an AR, it's gotta be a Geissele in my opinion. I have the SDE on both of my ARs and they are amazing. Love the advantage of the 2 stage trigger. 2.3 lbs - 1st stage and 1.2 lbs - 2nd stage. Great for full pull through on close up shots and fantastic when you need to slow down and make a longer shot. Highly recommend.
 
Chip McCormick here drop in trigger no messin around and have had great luck with it been runnin in my ar for around five years with zero issues but I think all the above are also very respectable triggers.
 
I have shot with a lot of different triggers and prefer the Geissele HiSpeed DMR.

As the HiSpeed is adjustable it is possible to get exactly what you want while still having a very reliable tigger.

2.75lbs on the first and 1.0lbs on the second make a great hunting trigger.

Not slamming the Geissele triggers, as I mentioned they are proven, but I wouldn't spend my $ on one. I doubt you will see any increased performance. Just my $0.02

The problem with polished parts is that I don't believe them to be as consistent across the board as you may think. Most of the mil spec trigger parts are MIM parts and while polishing them may help quite a bit the difference will vary from gun to gun.

I bought a Glock and the first thing I did was polish the searing surfaces. Cleaned it up a lot, but I would even put it in the same league as a competition trigger. Same goes for the AR.

Geisseles are pricy but well worth the cost. You know what they say, "you've got pay to play."
 
I can only comment on the ssae since I'm new to AR. wasn't sure how I was going to like a 2 stage but I gave it a try. I have become fond of this style of take up, and then there is a nice positive feel of a wall going in to the next stage, then it's just "think pull" crisp and no over travel.
 
beware of geissele.put a g2s in my fmk polymer lower and ended up with a 8 lb. plus pull.sent the lower and trigger back to geissele to see what was wrong.they claim the lower was defective and nothing wrong with their trigger.said there wasn't enough room in the trigger pocket.
fact was the stock psa trigger group worked fine at around 6-7 lb pull.
just recieved a cmc 3 1/2 lb. drop in trigger today.PERFECT fit,very easy install.what a nice trigger!no creep,just breaks clean.

I had the same problem with a Spikes lower. I called Giessele up, told them about the issue and had a new part in the mail two days later at no cost to me...

I just put an Armalite 2 Stage Tactical trigger in one of my rifles. It is more of a target rifle than a go fast 3 gun rifle so I thought the 2 stage would be more appropriate. It met all of my expectations for a reasonable price.

You can get on any hunting, gun, ar forum on the internet and find thousands of geissele owners. That's probably because they are great triggers, but they are not the best trigger. After shooting timney, rock river 2 stage, jard, jp/spring, jewell, Cmc, geissele nm hi speed and dmr (tuned as well) the best ar trigger on the market is the ar gold. It's funny this is a three page long thread and not one person mentioned them. I guess they are not that popular yet. The group that I hunt with, we all tried every trigger out there and probably spend a few grand and triggers to all end up with the gold. This trigger is in a class of its own. 2 stage adjustable, mine breaks clean at 1lb10oz. If your in the market for the best ar trigger out there buy an ar gold.
