Whatsup guys,
Im new to huntng predators and Im interested in a motion decoy. Whats the best? Why do you think so?
RATE THEM 1-10
1 being junk
10 being "practically eatin' by predators"

thanks

feathers tied to a straightened wire hanger with fishing line. It's light weight and cheap to make and the slightest breeze gets it moving.
My hunting bud tried out his Whirling Woodpecker this week and I really like that too.

If 10 is being eaten, I would have to put the whirling woodpecker up there cause it got snatched just the other day. Not by a coyote though, but by an owl.

I also have a jack in the box. I think it is a good decoy and really like the way it moves, but it sits a little low and is kind of bulky to carry. I'll give it a 8.

I use both decoys in different situations and like them both. I love how easy the woodpecker is to carry though. You can clip it on your coat, lanyard, whatever.

I have seen alot over the past year and I have bought one that "dogging Coyotes" built.I rate it a 9 1/2.great motion with very little to no noise. very light and simple to use.it also has adjustment to make it staind up tall or you can keep it low to the ground. It also has a loooong battery life.the cost was very pleasing on the old wallet.

Everyone of the ones marketed will work, some a little better than others, but they will work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

More money does not mean more predators, in spending money on decoys in my opinion.

I've been impressed with a feather tied to a tree limb this year, have watch the cats and coyotes fixated on the feather. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've used the woodpecker hanging from a joshua limb and saw the cats and coyotes do the same thing, just stare at the decoy.

I strongly believe the decoy being up higher than ground level increases your odds and keeps the predator focused longer in both time and distance.

Feather on a string 7 +s = simple to make, easy to use, cheap, light to carry. -s = no wind no movement, easily lost or misplaced

Whirling Woodpecker 9 +s = great motion, easy to use, light to carry, well made, can be placed low to the ground or as high as you can reach for better view for predators. -s = can be hard on batteries--I usually go through 2 fully charged rechargable batteries on a full day of calling, can't be turned on and off with a remote--stays running the whole time on the stand eating up battery.

Expedialite Woodpecker 8 +s = great motion, can use with one or two wings, light to carry, can be place low or high depending on terrain. -s = bigger than whirling woodpecker, uses more batteries than whirling woodpecker, can't be turned on and off with remote--stays running eating up more batteries than whirling woodpecker.

Jack in the box 6 +s = can be turned on and off with remote when connected to FoxPro, great motion--two speeds, has its own call built in, has a light built in to light up decoy at night--help to actually find it when walking out at night to pick it up after you are done with that set, easy on batteries--still using the 4 C batteries from last year. -s = big & takes up a lot of space in pack, sits low to the ground--predators can't see it with a lot of low shrubs around it from a distance.

Mojo Critter 1 +s = great motion, easy to use, light to carry, good customer service when you send it back which you will -s = poorly made, doesn't work when you want it too--most of the time doesn't work right out of the package, don't know about battery life only got to use mine once before it quit working and the next one they sent didn't work right out of the package.

Mojo Hawk 4 +s = can be seen easily for a great distance, rechargable battery built in, well made and durable. -s = too large to carry to every set, takes about 3 - 4 minutes to set up--putting wings on, pushing stake into ground, putting extension stake on, putting hawk on the stake, did I mention its size--too big to carry to every stand!!!!

These are the ones I have used and these are all my personal experience with them. Take it for what you want.

Can't do much more than pile on after Chuckers post.

Just bought the Expedite Woodpecker...one stand, one 'yote. He came in to about 75 yards from me and stood stock still like he was mesmerized staring at the decoy.

I also have a Mojo Fuzzy Thang...several stands and zilch to show for it. I think it's too noisy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
