Best bow for hunting in 2010?

I'm lining myself up to offer more bow lines as right now i have access to Martin, Diamond, PSE and a couple others but i may have the opportunity to get someone Strothers and Elite lines also. So i wanted to see what guys are looking for in 2010! I will probably look at a Elite Judge or Strothers SR71 for my next bow, what has got your interest in 2010? I would say the Mathews Z7 and Bowtech Destroyer will be one alot of guys short list also.

I shot alot of bows and settled on the Mathews Reezen 6.5. I bought this bow last July and really liked the extra speed and the draw cycle, I have'nt had a chance to shoot the Z7 yet and I don'nt think I want too as I hear it's even smoother yet! I don'nt think a guy or gal can go wrong with any of the bow offerings for 2010!

I bought my first bow at 16 yrs old and it was a Ben Pearson. Since then its been Hoyt, Jennings, Bear and a few others. I bought my first Matthews Ultra Max along time ago and since then its been a MQ1 an MQ2 a Switchback and a Risen. I think the Z-7 will be next. I don't see any reason to buy any other brand. They are the best and smothest. I still shoot the Ultra Max when I go to Texas pig hunting and haven't changed a thing on it for 10 years and it still shoots dots. I am 62 now and just got new lighter limbs for the switchback. Sell Matthews in your shop and you will never regret it. Avid hunters want the best and that is it.

Well mathews certainly is one of the most popular for sure, i wouldn't say the best though, too many other great ones out now that are as smooth and faster. I think alot of guys are getting tired of the $700-$900 price tags for a naked bow these days, i know i am, and want something as good for less no matter the name. Rytera is one that comes to mind with bows around $600 that shoot 340+fps and are gorgous and smooth. I may look there but i got a in with Elite now and possibly Strothers soon if i want to mess with those. If you haven't ever seen a Rytera Nemesis take a look once, it has the wow effect in looks and is fast and smooth.

Hi BHS!!!

I think you're on the right track with adding Elite (great bows and you can't beat that warranty), the Strothers appear to be the "hot" thing right now but with that guys history you just never know what's going to happen.

Some other companies to look at are Alpine, Athens and Maitland.

Diamond/Bowtech. I sold my switchback last year and picked up a Diamond Marquis. It is wicked fast and relatively quite without undue vibration. I love it.

I own the Switch Back XT and love it. not the fastiest bow but shoots nice. there are alot of nice bows out there. its all preference.

I can get Diamond already, nice shooting for sure but not blazing fast for the speed freaks. I was looking for a speed bow line now, and since i can't get the PSE Pro series (Omens) i figured the Elite Judge and Strothers SR71 may fit the bill. I got a Judge on the way so we'll see if it's as nice as my old GTO was!

I've had one of the first Destroyers that left the factory for about 4 months now. It's a fantastic "speed" bow for sure, that doesn't feel, or shoot like a speed bow at all. On the draw and shot, it feels like the old Tribute on smooth mods, yet I was able to get 330fps out of mine with a 315gr arrow at 63lbs with a fully loaded string, etc.

In full hunting setup, I'm shooting a super heavy 490gr arrow at 64lbs and still getting 291fps. Not too shabby for a smooth drawing bow with 7" of brace height. If you want more speed, you can get the Destroyer 350 and pick up an additional 10fps on the numbers I've stated above. Most people with your typical 350-400 grain hunting arrows pulling mid 60lb range will see well over 300fps.

I've included below a quick review I posted on mine when I first got it, and a couple pics below too.

Yhe Destroyer is a top 5 bow for 2010 for sure and i have drawn one and liked it also. You forgot to mention what your draw length was to achieve those #'s? As for keeping it simple, there sure are alot of great custom recurves on the market too, i would love to get back to my roots and do some traditional shooting again- i was good without sights and a release a long time ago lol!

The Bowtech line and the Destroyers maybe my new addition, Strothers is also a possibility it looks like and i got the Elite Judge in, very nice bow with great accuracy! Now, are the Destoryer 340's or 350's more popular, my guess is the 350? Unfortunately bowtech is 8800 destroyers behind in orders right now, i hate waiting and i'll have at least 10 destroyers on order- oh well still in time for the mad fall rush lol!

I have been shooting my Matthew's switchback for several years now and don't see myself getting anything else for a while, or at least until I have an extra $1000 laying around. I can only imagine that Matthews has gotten better since they made mine. www.BestForHunting.com

Amen to that I shot a lot of bows over the last few months and they are quality product and price. They are smooth and the feel is ammazing, ultra quiet and depending on the model ultra fast. I decided to buy the G5 2 weeks ago it is pushing my 437 grain arrow 292.

no such thing as the best bow. its to personal and what I like you might hate.

that being said no compounds have interrested me since i bought my 09 rytera alien x. its just a great shooter and works so well for me. hunting, 3d and 5 spot.

elites are fine bows and you cant beat there warrentee. if i was in the market for a new compound i would look hard into them. the pulse look awsome. a guy i know has the pure and z228 and loves them. he was a die hard hoyt fan
