Best Brush Guns

Growing up in Penn's woods the pump gun was the early choice and has proved very accurate and fast follow-up if needed. my choice is the 760 in 35 rem. have not shot an animal that did not stop there!!

If a feller can find a 7600 in .35 Whelen... now that is something special! The Remington pumps are fantastic guns, accurate, reliable, great handling, fast shooting, and even the triggers can be worked over without too much fuss. Heck, I've thought of getting one in .243 for calling timber/brush country coyotes.

I have the Marlin 1895m (450 Marlin). I use to be a "bolt action only" guy till I tried a lever. So easy to carry in the thick stuff and so quick to point. The Marlin comes apart with 1 screw so you can clean from the chamber. I handload light stuff (300gr @ 1200fps)for practice and heavy stuff (400gr @ 1700)for anyhting bigger. I do a lot of offhand rapid fire and it pays off during the deer season. All cast bullet stuff shoots great and best of all carries better than anything I've tried. I called mine "The Stopper", kinda silly but it fits.

I didn't see GCs comment, he's right about the 35 Whelen. If I hunted in more open area the Whelen would be 1st choice. Had one years ago and wish I kept it. A blind man could follow the blood trail left by a Whelen and you really can "eat right up to the hole".

I'd say the .45-70 lever gun would be my first choice as a brush buster, but I have to say my Beowulf really grew on me this season as far as ease of carry and obviously terminal effects.
