Best camo pattern for CEDARS??!!!

I hunt mostly oklahoma and there ain't nothing better than backing up into a cedar to hunt outta. BUT...i haven't found a pattern that really goes with the blacks and greens of a cedar. What would yall recommend?.
 
Whatever camo you have will work. Camo is the last thing I worry about. If you don't move when they are looking your way, and have something behind you to break up your outline. Then you should be good to go. And try not to have the sun shining directly on.
 
Take a pic of what you think will be good and convert the pic to black and white or sepia. I have had some, including army camo that glows like the moon when converted.
The best universal camo I found was MO Brush even against evergreens, next best was shadow grass.
MO has a couple newer ones I have not photographed like mountain and obsession that look good to the eye.
Many camo patterns and colors work good for human or color vision animals(typically animals or birds with color).
For coyotes and deer the shade of color is more important and I use UV killer Sportwash instead of laundry detergent.. This is about the same effect as guys who use faded carhart clothing.

Gillie suits may work well in cedars but not so well in S. Tx. brush country. You'll spend half your time extracting yourself from the nearest mesquite tree or huisache or horrors, catclaw.

I use them in southern NM, AZ and NV with no ill effects BUT I only use the jacket, if your sitting on a stool the pants aren't necessary.
 
I knew the pants wouldn't work so only bought a jacket. I'm sure our brush is thicker down here; you can't get down a trail in mesquite bush without getting hung up.

Santa Claus suit will work fine if you don’t move. Never found anything that works if they spot you moving.
You might also get some laughs from other coyote hunters

I agree with tripod3, try to wear something that matches the shade of the cover you are in. Don't wear dark camo in light colored grass and don't wear light camo in dark cover.

Bob nailed it. Look like something that you are not. Just don't look human. Contrast is worse than color.

I used to take a picture like Bob did, and convert it to black and white to see the contrast. It will shock you just what you can get away with.

In this photo Ray looks like he's a bad mismatch. It is, for the green back ground, but watch what happens to the dirt colors in black and white...

Ray blends right in. So...I made sure he always sat with similar contrasted rocks or dirt behind him.

And Jason in black and white. Notice the big contrast in the underbelly of the fox but how their backs blend in, well look at Jason blending in...

Had to put him in front of the darker, greener trees to blend in.

It works.

After looking at this picture again it looks to me like the blue Levi's actually blend in better than the light camo does.
 
Whatever you have will work. Coyotes don,t care about the latest and greatest camo pattern. Keep the movement down and the wind in your face and you'll do fine. Camo patterns are like rifles, the manufacturers need to come out with something new every so often to sell more stuff. The new stuff generally isn't any better than the old its just new.

This reminds me of a time I was backpack hunting in the high mountains wearing predator spring green. It doesn't "look" like a good camo, but I had sat down next to the trail and a hiker walked right up next to me. I said Hello and she nearly jumped out of her skin

Years ago I watched some videos made by a guy that hunted in the middle of NM in cedar country. He shot a lot of coyotes. He wore blue jeans stuffed into brown knee high lace-up boots, a brown jacket, and a brown cowboy hat. He also carried a scoped bolt action rifle. No camo at all and he stood out like a sore thumb against the cedars in his videos but still he had great success.

He might have had more success with camo or less. No way to tell. I think he just knew how to set up and remain still.
 
I've killed more coyotes wearing blue jeans or brown coveralls and a black coat on than anything else. Black stands out like a sore thumb,or at least one would think so. I've wore it in the snow and shot coyotes. If you stay still you can get it done with whatever you want to wear.
