When you get your scope, you should also look at getting 45 mounts for your rail, put a set of iron sights on them and that will take care of the closeup engagements.

Not sure if the Luppy VX3 in 2.5x8 would meet your criteria but it is versatile and lightweight and a good piece of glass. I keep moving mine from rifle to rifle, it is now on my calling rifle, an AR .
