best coyote gun for the $

I agree with yotecaller as I just ordered a Savage 22-250 for my dad's Christmas present!
I hope he lets me shoot it once in awhile. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

At this point, I believe going with used is a good option. I'm so close to getting a used Ruger 22-250, I could spit and hit it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For the money I would say savage as well.

However, I bought 6 guns this year for christmas presents and in my situation I had to go with the NEF. I got three in .223 and three in .243, I topped three with the bushnell 3200 elite and the other three with the nikon buckmaster (all 3x9x40). I also put bipods on all of them. Considering the bipods and scopes would have cost the same regardless, for the money, I figure I got quite a few guns for the money ($149 a piece).
Now none of my friends can say they don't have the right set up to wake up at 4:00 am and go hunting!!!!

In the town of Kewanee, IL they have a store called Farm King. They sell a savage 110 in any caliber with scope, rings, bases and hard gun case all included. I am not sure but I think it is roughly 350.00. They where running an ad this week with 20% off any savage rifle. If you wnat to check phone number is 309-852-6561. Kewanee is about 90 minutes straight down rt 78 from you.
Good Luck

Looks like Savage overwhelmingly has the nod. I've owned a .223 10FP for several years and it's a super shooter. Last Dec. I needed a new 22-250 but bought a Remington instead of going with my instincts and getting the Savage, been kicking myself ever since. Oh it's nice, but it will not shoot with my Savage.

The best gun for the money. Winchester Coyote .243 WSSM. This IS the best gun for the money. I do agree with the rest of you on Savage 22-250 if you do not have the money for the Winchester. Savage makes a good lower end gun. It does not pay to go cheap on any varmint rifle. Save your money and get that gun that you have always wanted. Otherwise you will always want it. The Coyote .243 ballistics prove to be one of the best guns for varmint ever. Double up- it makes a superior thin skinned animal gun (i.e.) deer/antelope.

Im going to have to go with Savage also. I picked up a Savage Model 11 at a gun show in SD for $350. Came with a 3X9 scope and I got 1 1/2" groups at 200 yrds last weekend

I hunt Coyote and fox in Pa and have many long range open shots I (through MUCH study) Chose the Howa model 1500 in 243. The gun itself is a package topped with a simmons 3-9x40 for 360. new. I topped it off with the Burris Fullfield II with the Ballistic plex reticle. This by winchesters product list with the 55gr Ballistis silver tip bullet is the flatest shooting standard production caliber not including ANY of the wsm or wssm. The one big difference is I don't pay 30. per box for shells. The Burris scope has a built in bullet drop compensator so with the use of a range finder and a bullet that closely matches the paper Burris gives you will shoot almost dead on to 500 yrds. I use a Bushnell range finder and the 95 gr Ballistic tip factory ammo and the gun with that scope shoots 2" high at 300, 400 and 500 and is dead on at 100 and 200 so this allows me to compensate for bullet drop without moving anything but my point of aim.

spentshell, you did it wrong. I bought my 2 year old son a Savage 22-250 for x-mas. I hope it is not worn out when he's old enough to shoot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif My vote for best would also have to go to Savage.

Yogi, I just bought my 3 month old son a .17HMR for christmas. A nice little Savage. Something tells me that I will be buying him a new one, when he is ready to start shooting it in 6 or 7 years.

You may want to check out the tikka-3. Great out of the box accuracy, smooth action and a trigger that you don't have be a gun smith to set.Overall the best rifle for the money out there in my opinion.

I have to backup Savage too. I just got a 12FV with a Simmons 6x18 and it is awesome. Its a 22-250 round and the accu-trigger is perfect. I shot .30 inches at 100 yesterday in a 20mph wind!
