Best electronic caller with wireless remote for the money

My old preymaster with a cord called in coyotes no problem just didnt like the cord. I got a FP scorpion next and thought it was a great little call but hated the new remote as apposed to the old 1. I sold it and got a Game Traks. I havent had a chance to use it in the field yet but has worked while the speaker was on the bottom floor and I was around several corners and behind a closed door upstairs and no probs whatsoever. They have great customer service as well.

I normally try to stay out of the Foxpro vs. the world threads, but I can't resist biting on this. Are those of us that had different experience with Foxpro liars? Is it possible that not everyone's experience has been equal to yours? How much weight should be accorded the statements of "many people over the years" vs. your statement today?

My previous Foxpro caller wouldn't work reliably over 50 yards. At 50 it might register every third button push unless I held the remote up fairly high. It was consistent no matter how fresh the batteries were and at high temps in AZ to lows in MT. I'm not so bold as to say that this is true of every caller (not even in the same model,) or that any opinion to the contrary is "simply not true."

Edit: Just for laughs, when I posted this it moved this thread right above this one: Spitfire Antenna Mod Kind of ironic.

You can do that because it's one of the callers that uses FHSS.

You can NOT do that with one of the callers that does not use FHSS.

Apples and oranges. The non FHSS Foxpro callers were total frustration for me. I owned/used a bunch of em and I hated every one. Guess I was a slow learner.

I don't think you can.

I can't remember exactly how many sounds but it is over 100. I don't really see what else a guy would need. Maybe carry a couple hand calls and change it up during the stand.

I didn't know, thought I might get one for a backup but also hi Jack the sounds and throw em on my cs24.... Dirty , I know!!

My caller before the CS 24 was an FX 5 and I had no problem with range. Caller before that was an FX 3 and I did have a range problem. I sent it back to FoxPro and it was fixed. Been calling many years with Foxpro callers and just never had the range problem with a properly working caller.

Last week a Land Owner drove up to my stand. I walked over to BS with him and I was at least two hundred yards from my caller. The Caller was under some brush, on the ground, at the base of a tree, and the remote worked good enough for a demonstration.

Borderdog,

Did you ever send the unit with remote range into us? As with every single caller out there, they are prone to problems with the chip sets that are used for the remotes. I can without a doubt assure you that every company out there has had the exact same issues, since most are using the same chip sets that we have used for years(except for our FHSS remotes). I have talked to customers that have previously purchased units out there from every single company with the exact same issue. The difference is the way in which the problem is resolved.
If anyone would ever like to compare remote range, I invite them to visit our facility, and bring any unit that you would like to compare range to. I thInk you might be surprised at the results.

The best I have had as far as weight and pure volume is the cs24. Just wish they would coat the speaker housing with some sort of a sound deadening materiel. Kinda like summit does with their New stands. I don't always carry mine in a pack and if a button or hand call hits that thing it makes a racket.

Mike,

No I never sent it in. It was that way right out of the box and I knew other hunters that were getting the same range. I made the assumption that the caller was only capable of that range. That is my fault. I've never heard anything negative about your customer service so I'm sure you would have taken care of it.

If you read my posts I'm fairly clear about my experience being just that, my experience. I recommend what's worked for me and state what didn't. In my previous post I even stated that I didn't think my experience with your product was necessarily representative of all of your callers.

As also stated in my post, I normally stay out of this crap. Your company has a large and faithful following and they are very vocal. That is a wonderful testament to your company and its customer service. Had my experience with your product been different I would likely be right there with them. I do, however, take issue when someone says that the statements of many people, with identical experiences, over a period of years are false just because they don't match their experience. That assertion is ridiculous.

There is no doubting that you produce a quality product that hunters have success using. Their experience is different than mine, and I choose to use another companies product. Those two facts don't mean that my experience and statements are less truthful than someone elses. None of my posts were meant as a slight towards you. Thank you for your explaination of the remote range isssues. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Nate

Nate,

I never took your post as a slight. I just wanted to offer a chance to get your unit taken care of, and to let people know that all callers, not just ours, can and will experience the same issues.
We take great pride in not only our products, but our customer service as well. Too many times, companies that get larger tend to forget what it was that brought them to the dance. That will never be FOXPRO. We take great pride in manufacturing our e-calls right here in the USA, from design, engineering, assembly, surface mount pc board placement....everything right here under one roof. There is no other company that can make that statement. I will always continue to defend our products, as I have that much pride in them. I hope you don't take offense to that. Hopefully someday, I can gain you back as a customer.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response Mike. I didn't take offense to anything and I wanted to make sure you didn't either. I just wanted to explain why I'd posted what I did. This soldier is too tired for internet wars.

So I think I'm going to go with a CS24 or Krakatoa. The next thing is to decide which sounds to get! Plan to mainly hunt coyotes, but any other varmints/predators in MO would be fair game too

Any suggestions?

Nice to see you guys on here. I just picked up a PB. What can I expect the remote range to be on this? I have been reading the book but haven't finished yet if it says or not??? Just got it!!! I like it! My Jonny was outdated!!!

A PM-4 for $100?

That's a pretty smoking deal, because those call in critters pretty consistently.

Later if you weanted something more "high tech", you would still have the PM-4 for a back-up.

love my firestorm and like the gametraks a lot but def give the edge to the firestorm right now. mainly due to cost and being able to use the remote or not if you so choose.

Went out with a buddy last night who has a CS24. I just purchased an Echo. We both had them setup about 50 yds away. He can vouch that the Echo sounded every bit as good as his. Some, even better. He was really suprised when I told him what i paid. The CS really beat it with volume. While my Echo has plenty for where I call, the CS has the volume ( and clarity) for probably anywhere. But for the money, the Echo is hard to beat.

Mike.....I'm a new Foxpro owner. I have had it only a week and haven't had the opportunity to get it out into the field yet. Just wanted to say that I did a LOT of reading before buying my new Firestorm and it's posts like yours above that convinced me to go FoxPro. You don't hesitate to stand behind your product and to put it into writing. I look forward to a long relationship with FoxPro!
