best factory 223 ammo

I shoot Black Hills 50grain Vmax and my rifle will shoot 3/4" groups all day at 100 yards. I would like to try and do reloading so I can get my groups even tighter and save money on costs. One box of 50 rounds of Black Hills costs around $23.00. It was only $19.00 last year per box.
 
I'll second the Black Hills blue box are very good. Also the Remington Accutip, Winchester silver ballistic tip, and Hornady VMax. The Remington and Winchester have a $5 per box rebate through Nov or DEC. Good Luck
 
The first thing I'd try is Black Hills remanufactured. Great price and good quality stuff too. If that doesn't work out, you're stuck with one of the more expensive boxes of major brand ammo... Sorry.
 
Black Hills is great for the Money, also try the UltraMax noslers. They are a few bucks more, but they always group just a little bit better.
 
So far, the 'el cheapo' Federal bulk pack 50gr HP that is sold through Wally World for $58 per 200rds out scores Black Hills blue box by a little in my two 1/9 twist ARs.

I usually load up on it when I can find it, as the primers are crimped and if I lose it on the range or at a match, it's one step in the reloading process I don't have to worry about.

Well it sounds like ill have to buy a box from Black Hills. 23.00 for 50 rounds thats great. i have been spending 18 bucks on just 20 rounds!
 
Black Hills reman. is great ammo but very hard to come by. White box Winny 45 gr. hp works very well for me too. Its getting hard to find as well. The best solution has always been to reload. Even then you are being faced with component shortages. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
 
I'll also agree that the Blackhills bluebox 52 grain HP's shoot great and is quality ammo. It's the only factory ammo I've found that will go under an inch im ny finicky 700 classic. It got mighty hard to find it there for a while though. Now that it's reappeared its gone up from $17.00 per 50 to $24.95 per 50 around here.
I've been shooting the Remington 50 grain HP's that come in the 40 round "Value Pak", in my 1-9 AR and am getting 5 shot groups from 3/4 to an inch from them. I've found them for $17.50 at our local Wally World. I've also found them at Sportsman's Warehouse in 20 round boxes for $8.95.
