when i first met branden Boyd i was at a gun show. started hearing this chicken. he doe's great bird's sound's with his call's. when i was at Arky's house in Feb he taught me to do the bird's sound. it's all in twiddling your toung. he is a great bird sound caller as is Tony Tebbe and cat Daddy Cold hear some awsome caller's when i was in oklahoma. i've been playing aroung more now. i give the Tweety a big thumb's up and the pee wee critter call. The Tweety didn't get that name for nothing. But you're missing out if you don't have one of Arkyyoter's CatBird calls with you when after short-tails.
You can do a bird distress from open or closed reeds. If you can roller your R's with your tounge it works the best, which I can't so I used to have me kids call when ever I wanted to use a bird distress. I figured out a few years ago you can also make growling sound in your throat while you are blowing on the call and it comes cloes to the same sound as using your tounge.

Like others have said, closed reeds are easy to get good bird sounds with if you learn to trill your tounge. Easy breezy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
