Best light for solo hunting?

HMMM, man! good question

If your hunting with a rifle and scope, I would say the Lightforce 140 with the scope mount. Slipping it into the mount for the shot, after scanning with it by hand.

If shotgunning, the new Predator Light by Restorc that the guys up in NY state are selling.

This is all opinion now. I will be watching this post to see if I learn something new.

X2 on the 140 with the scope mount, If your by yourself thats what I do and when I see them coming I switch it over to my scope mount and get setup for them coming in. and just follow them with my AR on a bipod or shooting sticks.
 
If you want all night/week battery performance, no wires to break or contend with, be able to shine eyes at 500 yds, no battery weight, be able to scan with hand & then slide onto scope for the shot... go for the Predator Light from Restorc, Ltd.
 
go with two lights....one good headlamp...and a gun light..
then your prepared for the worst...if one goes you still hunt out the night with the other......the lightforce..is a good light i made one similar..250 yard id's and shots are very possible..with the red lense...i hunted with 4 friends who have them....i cant say that for the other lights being suggested here....if you just want to see eyes at 300 yards a surefire 30 dollar flashlight will do..but if you shoot the farmers dog..shooting eyes..you may be in a fix......nite lite hot light pro..is like 130 with the red lense and gun barrel mount..it has alot of power...and holds its brightness when the red lense is added...my friends have them also there durable you can scan then slide it in the gun mount for the shot...also i live where fur is burnt with spotlights all summer...families spotting for deer..who see coyotes and fox very little..when they do they light it up till they cant see it any longer..by the time fur season rolls around a amber or red lense is a must...
 
The Predator Light by Restorc could literally run away with the market for calling, if they would get a scope bracket on the market(quickly)
 
After doing some research I think I am going to go with the predator light by Restorc. I usually use a shotgun when I hunt so I will probally get the hat with the bracket for the light too.

Not unless they get a forearm switch for it, and since they are just repackaging a miners light I don't think they will have a dedicated forearm switch anytime soon.
 
who cares if they are repackaging a miners light. half of the stuff on the market is "repackaged" somewhere along the line. i personally could care less about a forearm switch. that's one of the main points of the light, NO WIRES. besides when the dang thing will run for two full nights without ever turning off the light, why turn it off, leave the dang thing on and don't worry about finding the switch. just my opinion of course.

i dont see that happening...on...a Pa. hunting forum...the predator light was second...over the smart light....many hunters want the red filter...even the 300 lux stronger box led i tested..is dim with a red lense...not saying its a bad light..but i have only seen fur from 1 person...that says he was using just this light ...he owns hounds..and has a intrest in this light...the others had gun mounted lights...also i believe it is probably a decent light..but not for open field hunters...sure there was a test on here....but what zoom was the camera on when the pics of the reflecters was taken...most digital cameras are 2x at least...like i said..i have seen no fur dropped by 2 PA.. hunters..that have the light..and in my opinion it lacked power with homemade light red sharpie marker lenses...and 1 WV. hunter...and 1 already put in the classified section..if it were brighter..and we knew for sure how many shots...with recoil the bulb could stand i would recomend it....liteforce..and nite lites have proven themselves over the years...maybe a few years down the road we will all agree the predator light is a predator light..but from what ive seen...and read on hound forums..its a better coon hunters light..and some didnt favor it there.....it lacks being able to be adjusted..no rheostat..no power with a red lens...which the majority of predator hunters use..etc...right now i as i said recomend a good headlamp and a decent mounted gunlight..and most predatorlight owners also own lightforces...many of fur have been shot over 70 dollar nite lites that have been used for years trouble free....and they have the lenses and the barrel mount...so for now i would recommend the nite lite hotlightpro..for a single light..it runs about 120 as i said earlier..
 
i agree who cares..if its a miners light....i agree no wires...
but it lacks as a predator hunters light....at least what ive seen where i live...for some hunters as ive said it may be the ticket..but as far as the needs on a predator hunters light..it doesnt stand up to many that have been on the market for years...no matter where you hunt...jmo...
 
My friend hunted upstate PA this weekend with a guy who had a predator light. They used it as a scanning light and had scope mounted lights to shoot. My friend loved it. He's going to buy one. We use shotguns here and he said it would be great for our purposes. We are used to the nite lite and he says it's a brighter wireless version. He's my hunting partner so I trust his opinion and I'll be ordering one.
 
Lightforce walkabout. Being able to vary the amount light is very important IMHO. Some nights require more light, and some animals are more wary of light. If I get one acting spooky, I dim it down. With the battery pack sitting beside me, the light itself doesn't weigh very much, so it's easy to hold it steady. Not so with my Golight Profiler 2. I hunt a lot of large open fields and pastures. I scan while holding the light in my left hand and shoot with my right off a bipod.

How does the predator light perform in the woods? I usually do most of my hunting in thick woods and brush. Maybe at night I should move my hunting out into fields, and more open areas.......
