I want to buy a rangefinder and do want to spend more than $300 or $400. I have been looking at Leupold and Nikon. I will be using it for whitetail and coyote hunting. Any info would be greatly helpful. Thanks Tom

If it's a NEW ONE your looking to purchase, have a look at
the Nikon RifleHunter 1000. I purchased one back in Feb.
and have used it in the field aprox 15 to 20 trips out.
Very impressed with it's all around use, which is primarily
Preditor hunting. Most, 99.9% of my shooting is under 400 yds,
and I've found it to be extremely accurate. I have ranged
Fur out to 762 yds with it, and the Neighbors Barn @ 1223 yds.
There are other Range Finders out there to be sure, but I can
only speak to the first hand Field knowledge I have with the
NRF 1000.
After looking at countless Range Finders in the 4 to 500$
range, reading countless reviews on most all of them,
(except for the RifleHunter 1000, as it's relatively new) and
the fact that Nikons RifleHunter 500 reviews were so
positive on that Model, my thinking was the 1000 could
only be an improvement over the 500.
I also tried to NOT LET THE FACT, that all the other Glass /
Optics I own are also Nikon, influence me in my decission
making process, but to be very honest here, I'm sure it was
also a deciding factor in my choosing the 1000.
Bottom line here is
I have NO REGREATS in my choice. It has EXCEEDED ALL
my expectations in every way, including the self adjusting
Low Light feature, and ease of use with Glasses, due to the
Eye relief.
Check them out, it may or may not be what your looking for
in a Range Finder. That's a decission only you can make.

I will buy a Leica 1600 someday, but untill I have enough cash I bought a Nikon 800 from Natchezss.com for just over 200 bucks. It ranges small objects and rocks out to 925 yds so far. Just rest it on something steady. I have owned it since last year. It is well worth the money.

Check the site, they have more than just this one.

I just purchased the Leica CRF 900 from Cambridge World for $369.95 or $360.95 I wanted the LRF 800 and they couldn't get it and the wanted me to pay $100.00 more for the 900 and I told them to cansel my order and then he said it would only be $30.00 more so I got the CRF 900 for the above price to my door. It is everything everyone says they are.

I've owned a Bushnell Elite 1500 for about 7 years and I'm very happy with it. The newer version is the Elite 1600 and I've seen them for under $400. I've done side by side tests with my buddy's Leica and my Bushnell more than holds it's own.
