I am thinking about an ar-15 project. I talked to dtech today about what i want. I am wanting a play around ar that i can shoot the heck out of and not worry to much about it. I think i am going with the k-16 upper with quad rail FF forarm. The lower will be a dpms with some type of adj stock. I want it to look like a taticool type rifle that I can blast away with and add all the little gizzmos too. I think i will do this instead of the long range rifle I have thinking about for a while.
Anyway this is goimg to be some what of a budget build ar. I thought about putting a decent red dot type scope on it. I dont think I can afford to put a Aimpoint or a Eotech on the rifle. I was hoping that i could find a middle of the road class, red dot scope. I was hoping some of you fellas had some ideas. Thanks lee

Live long and shoot often!!

Oh man, take an IN PERSON look at a sightron electronic sight. I have had one on my AR for a few years. $184.oo with a lifetime REPLACEMENT warranty. It has a retical for presision shooting as well as CQC type work.

I just bought a new RRA Coyote Rifle. I have a couple of Eotechs on other guns and after some extensive reading on a thread at AR-15.com, I ordered a Millett DMS 1x4x24 scope from Midway for $219. It has a 30mm tube and an illuminated 1 MOA dot inside a circle reticle. It can be used with or without illumination. I also picked up a CAA mount which allows for mounting it forward of where a set of rings would position it. It should be here in Monday or Tuesday. I figure on 4x it should be great on yotes out to 300 yards or so.

It might be worth checking out.

I have a simalar set up on my rock river predator pursuite. Except i when with the Bushnell 4200 1.25x4 with illuminated dot. Very, very nice scope. It was around 4 bones. I have also heard good things about the Millett DMS. Thanks Lee

Skeetlee, I would encourage you to save your money and get a Nikon which has 4 different sizes of red dots and 11 different intensity levels.

Some of the tiny red dots just disappear in bright sun light.

Does anyone know the difference between an Eotech and a Bushnell Holosight?

The Eotech is $350 while the Bushnell is $200. They both look the same outwardly.

Is the Eotech really worth the $150 extra cost? Thanks.

i found my sight! Vortex strike fire 1x30. $129 from swfa. Seems to be a good product from what i have read. Thanks again Lee

I have 2 Tasco BKRD30 reddots. Can't rememeber what I paid for them, but I luv'em. Have 1 on a 22 pistol, the other I have had on my .44 mag, have held up well.

I would think the typical 30mm red dot tube would not be the best for AR, but the ones sold for ARs will probably take more than $200 to buy.

That's right

I have 2 RD's on 12g.A Bushnell tube type for slug shooting and a Weaver Micro dot reflex type for shot loads. Both less than 80 bucks-both holding up fine.
