Best Reloading Equipment

Most of the presses work well.

The Forster Co-Ax is a level above and not much more costly. It is what is used to load the ammo for the Olympics, World Cups, and PanAmerican Games, not to mention all the military teams ammo for the National Championship at Camp Perry.

Ebay is great for somethings but I think it also makes it hard to find good deals on others. People look on there and see what things are going for and know that someone will bid on it. Most of the stuff I look on there for ends up selling at or near new cost.I guess people get caught up in the bidding frenzy.

I am weighing my options on what press to buy as well and looking hard at the Lee. I figured for the price, you could always use it for something if you decided you wanted to upgrade later.

Dillon because it's BLUE.

Seriously, Dillon because their customer service is simply perfect. They'll replace anything without consideration at to why/how it was broken, lost, destroyed in a stupid garage accident, or whatever. Dillon stuff retains virtually 100% of its resale value.

BRCBS is very good.

Lee will cause you much pain over the long run.

G.O.,

Nothing yet mentioned about them, but I've always liked the Lyman stuff over many, many years. Good sturdy presses. Even for case forming & bullet swaging.
RCBS and Redding are also good choices.

Regarding Dillons....I've got two 550B's and a Square Deal B.
Can't say enough good about them as a progressive choice. I use them strictly for large amounts of handgun ammo, and after 25yrs of use, they require very little attention and keep on going.

Take care,
Bob

Best as in best all around ..........or best as in ...this part against that part.
Best press Forster Co-ax
Best powder dispensing system Lyman
Best case prep RCBS
Best dies (all are good...some are better) Forster, Wilson, Redding, RCBS in that order
Best price Lee....you get what you pay for...cheap is cheap
Best customer service RCBS....hands down
Best priming system Lee Auto prime II
Best progressive equip. Dillon
Best electronic powder scale Dillon Dterminator
Best veneer calipers...electronic....Brown and Sharpe
Best reloading bench.....me
Best handloader I know.....me

My loading bench has a plethora of colors.......thats why I am not much of a fan of "kits".

RCBS is not a bad press. I have a Forester Co-Axial and wouldn't take for it. I ABSOLUTELY hate blue paint. I've found they have too much runout for my liking. Die choice would be Wilson, then Redding (bushed). Case trimmer-Forester, powder measure-Neil Jones

I'm just getting started myself, so I can't offer a lot of input on equipment except to say that everyone has their opinion. One good resource is www.midwayusa.com Read the reviews posted for an item you're shopping for. If there's something wrong with an item, it'll usually show up there and more than once.
Also, re: Ebay, there are very few good deals on presses and powder measures on Ebay. After shipping they sell for retail usually. I did get an RCBS 5-0-2 scale for $21 shipped though! Dies you can get cheap sometimes, but remember you still have to pay shipping.

You see, you ask a question like this from a bunch of us guys, and you will get a whole bunch of answers. All of them are good answers, and all the equipment will produce a usable product. the best thing is to take from this board and do your own research. Check the gun shops, gun shows, sporting goods stores to see who has what equipment and examine as much of it as you can. You will be taking into consideration such things a cost, amount of space required to mount, how much reloading will you be doing in the future?, how does the equipment hold up to wear. All of the opinions here are good and reflect everyones personal taste. Use this to form your own opinion for now, because in the future, your own opinion may or may not change. Do your research, and get the best that you can afford. JOHN /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Made this offer on another forum...make it here too. I have an RCBS JR2 press that I will make a real sweet deal on to any "new handloader"...you pay to ship it....its yours. Not until after Jan. 15th...........cause I'll be in Mexico drinkin cheap beer and checkin out cabana girls tomorrow.

PS - The only kicker is that if the person who recieves the press ever purchases a new press........they in turn must donate it to another "newbie" for the cost of shipping of course.
